    A new one on me

Well, me and the boys came in from our walk this evening, I got their dinner and turned on the TV.  I noticed Dog Whisperer was on and since they were laying down being good boys I thought I would see what was up with Ceasar.  I havent watched it in ages.  It was about a man trying to conquer his fear of dogs.  Long story short, Hot Shot was asleep on the cool floor all through the show.  Then they went to a Shelter where there were lots of dogs barking.  Hot Shot jumped up, at one point and ran over to the area where the TV was.  It sits up high and he cant get anywhere near it but he went right to it and was whinning.  He barked once or twice I told him it was ok. He came over to me for a second but still whined.  He was not rowdy but almost concerned if that make sense. He was glued to the TV.   I thought since he was getting so anxious about the TV I turned it down and walked to another room.   Rocky followed as usual but I couldnt get Hot Shot away from the TV.  I finally paused it on a commercial and called him to go outside with me.  He came this time but kept going back to the front door to go back in.  I let him in and he went straight back to the TV.  When there was no noise, he just kind of went to his favorite spot and layed down.

In the time we have had him he has never barked if he heard Rocky or any of the other dogs in our little country community barking.  He has never whined ever that I can think of.   He never even makes any moves when I watch Animal Miracles on Sat Mornings.   This was just the strangest thing I ever saw.   He didnt pay any attention until a certain point during the Shelter visit.

I would love to hear your take on this and whether anyone else has seen this type thing from their dogs.  Its almost like maybe a certain dog or bark got him going.  Am I nuts or did he hear dog talk?Confused

Have you ever noticed when you hear your own voice after it has been recorded you may not sound like you think you do??   I sound like a 10 year old on helium some times...  I watch my pack of 9 , not every dog show gets a reaction and not Evey dog reacts every time.... Old tapes of the pack playing always gets "conversation" going between the furkids...  Sometimes one will hear a dog that registeres totally, other times they look at each other like  "gee that almost sounds like a dog....."

Yes, Kaiser does it all the time. He's an avid TV watcher, but usually doesn't say anything. When there is an aggressive dog on TV, he jumps up...bristles his hair, and starts huffing and puffing/sometimes whining.

Ham will do that, too. Sometimes he couldnt care less what happened on TV other times he will run up to the TV with ears perked and his nose right on the screen. He will even react to lions on animal planet and people talking in a baby voice. He doenst bark but looks really interested in whats happening in that little box.

Also, it could be that he can hear the dog  barking, but he can't figure out where the dog is. Smile Max reacts that way to dogs  barking on TV or a dog  barking behind a fence if we're out walking. It's like he's thinking "hey, I can hear you, but where the heck are you?"
