What do you guys think of this?  I didn't know about it until today.  Willow can't have it but thought someone else might be interersted.  It's exclusively at Petco--at least that's what the info I got in the mail said.

One day, cruising through the satellite channels, I happened across one of the shopping networks. Millan has several things for sale, from toys to stain removers to whatever. Evidently, he's been able to negotiate into having merchandising and now food with his show's name on it. His business manager is certainly doing the job of creating a money maker.

Looks like Newman's Own, except the meats aren't organic.  Newman recently passed away - maybe they are transitioning the pet merchandise over to Milan?

Making only the grain organic means they can use more meat without making it a $5 a pound product.  LOL!

    . .  . Newman recently passed away . . .

I'm pretty sure he's still around, although I remember some rumors of illness.  A Google search doesn't turn up any date of death.

Paul Newman is still alive. His daughter runs the pet food business (and possibly all of Newman's Own) so I don't see that line going anywhere. But I'd rather buy from Newman's, who donates so much to charity, than what appears to be Millan cashing in on his overpriced food. I agree the ingredients are better than most Petco-type foods, but the price is outrageous. It's just as expensive as Orijen.

Brookcove--What did you mean they only made the grain organic?  The very first ingredient is organic chicken??

Pap-It said 26% protein for the adult formula on the Petco website.  I didn't see anything on the calories.

The second ingredient, chicken meal, doesn't say organic....pretty crafty. Looks ok overall, but my dogs seem to have trouble with certain foods that have alot of ingredients...trouble is, with tons of ingredients I have no idea which one is the problem.

Paul Newman has terminal lung cancer but I did not hear of his death?  Sort of surprised me when I read your post.  I checked online and he is alive!!  Thought maybe I missed something.  I love his acting and admire the man.  Hopefully he will survive without suffering for a long time.

Re: Dog Whisperer Has His Own Food Now

Ooops.  I must have caught something about his having cancer and some part of my brain turned that into "passed away".  I am so not on board with pop culture stuff it's not even funny.  We no longer even have a TV.  lol

I'm very glad CM didn't somehow get his food concern.

He's marketing his toys and dog gear, plus the food and treats of course, in a huge push at Petco.  They say all his stuff will have "training tips" on them so that people will know how to use whatever it is to make their dogs behave better.

On July 27th, drop by your local PETCO for the launch of Cesar’s new Dog Whisperer product line!

    • Organic wet and dry dog food
    • Treats and chews
    • Fortified water
    • Liquid supplements
    • Collars and leashes
    • Toys
    • Grooming products
    • Beds
    • Bowls and feeding supplies
    • Stain and odor removers
    • Training pads

The products are another way that Cesar hopes to reach out to troubled dogs and their caretakers. Each of the products will include "Cesar's Tips." These tips are designed to teach people how to use the products to best fulfill their dog's needs.

Is Petco even safe to shop at now?  I know they were having some issues but I haven't heard anything in awhile.  I'd like to go there for the vanilla pretzels but I haven't since that report came out.

Nothing is being shipped out of the affected distribution centers until it is completely cleared by the FDA. The issue wasn't as bad as some of the websites were making it out to be, though. At least from what I saw working at a Petco. Basically they found some rodents and there were some birds flying around. The birds were pooping on some of the bags and that was the worst issue. None of our food or boxes ever came in with rodent turds or rodent chew marks. The worst I saw was bird poo on some bags. Yes, it is gross to have bird poo on bags. However, it should definitely be safe to buy your vanilla pretzels :)
