  Female dog eating her doggy diaper. Yuk! Reply Contact Okay - I would love any and all advice/suggestions for this one.  One of my female standard poodles is in heat.  She wears one of those fabic doggy diapers that velcros over the back.  No problem with that.  The problem is that she eats the sanitary pad that is inside of the diaper!    It is so disgusting.  In addition to having ripped up pieces of bloody pads laying around, we also have the worry about her ingesting the pad (called the vet, etc, etc). We went to a very, very thin pad and we watch her like a hawk.  When she's in her crate we just leave the diaper off of her entirely and are using old baby blankets in the crate that we take out and wash.  I bought another diaper and if she isn't bleeding badly, we just put the diaper on her with no pad and then rotate the diapers.  Lots of laundry!  So, has anyone ever had this problem, or heard of it, or know of a solution to it?  I even tried spraying bitter apple on the edges of the pad and diaper.  Didn't bother her a bit. Dogs are proof...God not only loves us and wants us to be happy, but He also has a great sense of humor and likes to hear us laugh!!!

Reply Contact ya... moca did this... the only thing that helped a LITTLE bit was positioning the pad to it's not sticking out anywhere. THAT alone is a big task... but if the biter apple didnt do anything, you could still try something else... the only permamnent solution i found was getting her spayed.... Janet

I'd ditch the pad and limit her access to places that are secure and easily cleaned. Is she a heavy discharger? Reply Contact No, so far she's not been too messy.  This is her first heat so I expect future ones to be heavier.  Fortunately we do have an area that is easily wiped up and there's almost always someone home, so it isn't too bad.  I think we will have to just skip the pads and continue rotating diapers or leaving her without.  Dogs are proof...God not only loves us and wants us to be happy, but He also has a great sense of humor and likes to hear us laugh!!!

Reply Contact Our lab does it sometimes.  We just kept a closer eye on her and told her NO when we caught her chewing on the pad.  That seemed to work for us.
