    Ear wax buildup

So it looks like Ari may just have bad ears.  The vet said to take special precautions after bathing and swimming.  Right now we are using R7 Natural ear cleaner but I wanted recommendations for what else I should use (or if there is something better?).

Do those ear drying cremes work well?  I want to keep on top of her ears to prevent any infections!

How old is the dog, have you changed foods? or maybe there is something in the food he is allergic too.

    Re: Ear wax buildup

She's almost 14 weeks.  It looks like there are a couple in her litter with waxy ear buildup like Ari.  The breeder kept a puppy for herself, and her pup is having the same problems as well.  I've been cleaning and drying them out nightly and they are looking a LOT less red. I also have a recipe Cally was so kind to give me that I will be picking up the ingredients for and using that!

The breeder fed Innova large breed puppy, and we've been feeding her that up until the last two days.  The ear wax buildup has always been an issue.  The last two days we've been making a gradual switchover to California natural puppy - since she's been having a loose mushy stool issue and we've ruled out parasites and any foriegn objects she may have eaten with the vet.  She also gets plain pumpkin (just a little) to each meal (to help mostly with the stool issue).  She LOVES pumpkin!

Outside of all that she's growing steadily and frisky as ever!  But the ears do concern me, since I do not want any buildup to lead to an infection.

I had the same problem with my Shep when she was little...I was also feeding Innova, the chicken was giving loose stools and caused her to have a dark wax build up in her ears, I changed her to California Natural lamb/rice puppy, got her ears cleaned up and have never had a problem since. I would try a different protien like lamb see if it makes a difference

Tomorrow she'll be on just the Lamb and Rice from California Natural.  Hopefully this will help with the stools and if it also helps with the ears that would be wonderful!

Good luck, I hope it works as well for your baby.

I discovered that Heidi was getting red, icky ears after eating Blue canned beef.  Keep her off that and she has no issues.  Go figure.
