Well, very slow, and the end result is really just being staved off, but we are enjoying the fact that we can still talk, hug, and have a laugh or two.  One thing for sure - he's really living up to his name.  Michael Happy Medicine Bear.  Positive, strong, still thinking about others, and still the sweetest man I ever knew besides my dad.  When he finally does leave to cross over, the hole in my heart will never close...

I'm cheered to hear he is so much more himself and truly hoping for much more warm, quality time for you to share with him (and Sioux, of course - she obviously loves him).

Thanks also for the poignant reminder about organ donation - this story affirms my long ago made decision to be one.

    Re: Prayers Welcome

Sending continued thoughts and prayers to Mike (and you).  I'm so glad he's on a floor where dogs are welcome now.  That will cheer him and boost his spirits tremendously.  May each day bring more improvements so that his physical condition is as positive as his emotional one.

Well, he's really more himself now - he's getting mad that he can't come home yet...  He struggled up to a seated position this morning, on his own, and with help, got to the potty chair.  He's discouraged, but we keep cheering his small victories!

That's wonderful news; I hope he doesn't stop fighting. I'll keep praying for him. Anne, he's very fortunate to have you for emotional support.

Yay for more progress. Frustration on his part seems like a positive thing to me. If he didn't care, I'd be concerned. With all of your positive reinforcement, he'll come along in no time :)

Doc has cleared him to go to rehab.  Still a long row to hoe, but moving in the right direction.  Thank you to everyone for the famous idog vibes!

Anne, I was just thinking of you today on my way home, I hadn't seen you around in awhile.  Good for Mike, best of luck with this next step.

That should make him feel less frustrated, now that rehab is starting.    I'll continue to pray.
