We are going to my cousins for dinner and fireworks on Friday, M&M are definitley not phased by fireworks.  Then....we are going to go watch Luke at his agility trial and, maybe, we'll get to meet Kaiser - yay!

  Re: 4th of July plans anyone ?? Reply Contact My sister, her husband and their kid, and my cousin, her husband, and their two kids, are coming over for a cook out... I'm sure my BIL will do some fireworks out front (Costa Mesa is one of only five cities in Orange County allowing fireworks this year..yikes..), and we can also see the fireworks at the OC fairgrounds from out front. Cherokee's okay about fireworks. She seems to be getting more nervous every year though, so we'll see... Chelsea &

I love watching a beautiful fireworks show, but listening to 2-3 hours of kaboom right out front is unnerving. Some folks can't wait, so they'll start lighting them in the next day or so and then we'll continue to hear them for a few days afterwards. DH said that at the fire station, they have bunches of firecrackers they've confiscated, so they like to toss them into the bathroom stall when someone's in there. Doesn't that sound fun?   ~ Cathy ~

I might take Cadie along depending on how hot it is. I'll be sure to take pics regardless! Nighttime we might go to this huge fireworks thing downtown that's held every Independence Day, not sure yet though because it's always SOOO unbelievably crowded. For the weekend we're going to a state park to do some hiking, canoeing, etc. ( by we I mean my family and I of course). It should be a nice 3 day weekend.Oh and to answer your question The dogs bark at the fireworks but they're not really afraid of them. ~ISGrl Cadie - 8.5 yr/o Irish Setter Riley - 1.5 yr/o Irish Setter I love my shelter dog.   Re: 4th of July plans anyone ?? Reply Contact Between the hunting seasons and the legal fireworks we have noise all year long.  New Years , the 4th ,, Mardis Gras.... Thankfully the hounds are all cool with it. Our old Lab wasn't and we would really have to comfort her . By fireworks I am not talking sparklers and cherry bombs, I am talking about rockets, m80s. smoke bombs  and little chikens that let sparks out their butts as they scoot about laying eggs ! There are injuries every year but in tthe nearly 30 years we have lived out here the one business that has stayed open while gas stations, restaurants and stores failed was the firework store. go figure ?? Reply Contact We are having a party at our new property for friends & some clients from work.  We are going to bbq, shoot off some fireworks, & play on four wheelers.  DH, the dogs, & I will be staying in the "little house" for the first time on Friday night.  Brinxx, Bevo, Shooter, & Schatzi will be with us, while Chyna will stay in the city, since she hates fireworks. Saturday morning, we are getting up & driving 3 hours to attend a reception that is being thrown in our honor. It should be a fun filled weekend! Reply Contact Party at our house, all the family and friends are coming over for a pot luck and fireworks.   The dogs will have a nice long run in the afternoon to tire them out and then they will be banished to the house while the fireworks are going off. Gunnar does not like fireworks although he is not terrified of them, he will sit outside with me if I allow it, Hektor was very young last 4th and slept through the festivities so we will see how he behaves this year, but I will not have them outside while we are shooting off our fireworks.   Happy 4th everyone! Reply Contact oh the joy of fireworks... :( this year chinese new year the dogs became so agitated by the damn fireworks i ended up catching a bit from moca. a real one too!!! no worries though, they got into a fight (which was kinda my fault too...) and i somehow put my arm in BETWEEN them! duh!! but yeah... anyways.. go on... you were saying... 4th of july and everything... lol Janet

Reply Contact I will be taking Indie to the parade in the morning to meet and greet lots of people.  Later in the afternoon, I'll be taking them to the lake to swim with some friends (Aussies).  I prefer to stay home in the evening and off the roads.  Too many drunk drivers and I'll be worrying about my kid who'll be coming home from work.  Saturday, volunteering at the shelter, maybe some more swimming.  Sunday, I have to spend at the library at the university working on my independent study classes.    30 lbs. by Christmas, down 5.8 lbs., 24.2 to go!!!
