    Exercise

What are your dogs' favorite ways to get exercise?  Ours do different things depending on the day, but I'm always looking for new ideas.  Coke's favorite is playing with other dogs and Kenya's is chasing stuff.  How about yours?  Biking, agility, fetch, frisbee?

Apollo defiantly enjoys a nice, long game of fetch with his Chuck It and a tennis ball, preferably fetching it out of the water.

Belle loves to run!!! She goes nuts when I get the bike out.

Maxine is content to walk, she doesn't get too enthused about anything in particular. She just is happy with life in general.

Teddi likes to run and play. Seems like she never gets too any more.

All my dogs LIVE to be wet. If there is water they are in it. Nothing better than swimming.

    Re: Exercise

Their favorite way to get tuckered out is to come to the barn with me -- where they run & run & run & run.

At home, Luke is more than happy to chase the ball with the Chuck-it ('cause I can't throw the stinking thing without one!).

Kaiser has to stay on-leash at home because we're too close to the road, so at least once a day I have to make sure he gets to go somewhere to blow his afterburners.  lol  He can be off leash at work, at the barn or at my parent's house.

I find that if my dogs don't get off leash time daily they go NUTS.

Rory LOVES to pull with her harness. I never got her into weight pull becasue she is missing a back toe and didnt want to harm her but man oh man she LOVES to pull DH on his skateboard. She gets so excited when he pulls out the harness, he is a avid skateboarder otherwise she'd pull him right off of it but she tucks her butt, ears back and just GOES, LOL!

She likes biking with me also and she likes to run up and down the dunes by our house because she can really dig those back legs in the sand. She likes to swim too!

Primo....oh my lazy Primo, he likes to take nice slow walks around the neighborhood or try to jump and catch the finches in the tree in our backyard, LOL. He is so lazy!

I gotta get a video of him with the bike, he only wants to go becasue Rory goes but he is miserable the whole time. He goes so slow I almost lose balance and when he is done he'll try to bite my tires.LOL

That's Max! He does  the "happy dog dance" when he sees his leash coming out of the basket. Other than going for a walk, he likes to chase the light from a flashlight and chase the water stream as it comes out of  the hose.

Ooooo, I will have to find my Chuck-It thrower thing.  Lately when I throw the ball, Kenya looks at me like "is that all you can do?"  I throw like a girl. Embarrassed

Me too! Don't tell anyone, but my husband also throws like a girl, lol! What can I say, his High School sport was football, he just had to block other guys, not much finesse involved there. But with the chuck-it he and I both can really launch the ball.

Dena & Keefer love retreiving tennis balls, Keefer also loves playing with his Jolly Ball, which we sometimes take to the park, and his new toy, the Flying Squirrel. They love to swim, and tides permitting, they get to do so most weekends, either in the San Francisco Bay at Point Isabel, or in the ocean at Fort Funston.

And of course, chasing each other around the house.

    Re: Exercise

    Biking, mostly.

Hammer loves attacking water from the water hose, he gets most his exercise this way.

Frankie likes going in out goat pasture and get chased by out pygmy goats. He stands behind me and make snapping noises at them but runs away if they get annoyed and chase him. To him taunting goats is great fun, but he would never do it without a human to hide behind for when they get mad!

    Re: Exercise

Kirby's favorite form of exercise would be going to the dog park/playing with other dogs, followed closely by playing with his toys whether it be, fetching, playing tug, or chasing a toy lured around on a string.

Bodhi LOVES us to throw rocks into the lake so that he can "hunt" for them. Just try heading down the beach and not throw rocks for him, its enough to make you want to leave him at home.

    Re: Exercise

Indie's my lazy bones dog.  But I think he has it in him to do more, we're still learning because he's been getting back on his feet physically.  Given his behavior around labradoodles (that he thinks are sheep Big Smile ), I think he could have some interest in or aptitude for herding. But now, his exercise is long walks and with the heat here, that's all we're doing these day.  I'm going to start clicker training him to the water at our lake because I think swimming would be great for him.

Woobie loves anything involving speed and other dogs.  He loves getting other dogs to chase him at the dog park and does lots of crazy zig zags to outmaneuver them.  He gets the biggest smile on his face.  He just recently went swimming with his dog friends at our lake and absolutely loved it!  He didn't really "swim" much but lots of crazy running in the water and fetching.  He played for 2 hours and completely wore himself out, it was great so we'll definitely be doing more of that while it stays warm.  He also runs with my daughter and really loves that too.

Cheyanne goes nuts for the bike. Other than that she is lazy. She tags along when we go for walks but she goes CRAZY for the bike.

Lillie loves any sort of exercise. Walking, biking, going out in the field. I'm gonna start her in agility as soon as we get our cars fixed.
