My grandpa pretty much looked like the guy on the nickel, but he married a German and their daughter, my mom, came out blonde/blue like her mom, and then married a Lithuanian with blonde/blue. So you can see that it doesn't take much to get lightened up:-)) Also, some native people were darker than others. The Mi'kmaq, for example, would normally be lighter than the Narragansetts. And, one of my favorite elders, now deceased, was a full Penobscot, but had reddish tones in her hair and was very light. In the circles where I travel, no one pays any attention to your "quantum" or how light (or dark) you are. They're more concerned about where your heart is and how you live. We know there are some people who disdain that, and we respect the reasons they might have. We just choose a different way.
Ron, tell me, what would be under the skirt, er, kilt????

"If you talk to the animals they will talk with you and you will know each other. If you do not talk to them you will not know them and what you do not know, you will fear. What one fears, one destroys." - Chief Dan George
"The fidelity of a dog is a precious gift demanding no less binding moral responsibilities than the friendship of a human being. The bond with a true dog is as lasting as the ties of this earth can ever be." ~ Konrad Lorenz
