Gee Anne - you'll have to run down here and give me a "technology" lesson.  Nice pictures!

Anne- you are a good looking woman!

I agree and as long as I've been around this forum, that's the first time I've seen your picture. With all your talk about being a former trucker, I had a completely different mental pictures of you Big Smile

I think that's the first time I ever posted a picture;-))  Nice of all of you to be so kind, even though it's been about forty years since I looked as good as the lot of you!

    Re: So, whatcha look like?

Well, Anne, you also look as intelligent as I thought you would. But I expected jet black hair with a medicine braid. Although, these days, it's not unusual for people of native ancestry to have light hair. In my area, I see many commercials from Oklahoma dealing with the pride of the native american nations. And not all of them looked like my friend, Stony. But then, he was full-blooded Cherokee. And not every first american has the quintessential indian look, for that matter. Around here, I've seen mainly Chickasaw, Cherokee, and Seminole.

But then, I don't look like most people thnk I would, either. I think you had expected I wore specs and suspenders. Well, I'm halfway there. I wear my reading glasses a lot and I really should get a new test and get my perscription filled. I'm just not sure I could get used to bi-focals.

Spiritdogs....I am with Ron on this one....I expected black hair and a native look..... we have been to Cherokee, NC and the UP of Michigan several times and have never seen a tall, blonde female native......first time for everything, though.....right....:)

    Re: So, whatcha look like?

I remember Anne posting about being blonde in a thread or two talking about cheating spouses (now ex).  I also seem to recall that Huskymom (Candace) is a First Nations descendent and I think she's got medium brown hair.

I deal with a lot of my co-workers via phone and when we finally meet, everyone always says "you don't look anything like I pictured".  I'm never quite sure if that's a good or bad thing.

When I got tired of always having either a dog hair or a drop of water from a steamy dishwasher hanging on that little ridge, I switched to the line free ones.  They're wonderful!  Didn't take any more getting used to than regular glasses.

I'm barely Native American (Cherokee, hence the dog's name lol.. my..great grandmother was half..so that makes me 1/16th? yeah..), and as you can see on the first page of this thread, I'm very light-skinned, with light blue eyes, and sort of reddish brown hair. One of my sister's is also very light-skinned, with dirty blonde hair and medium blue eyes. My other two sisters look way more Cherokee than we do. One has green eyes, a darker skin tone, and medium brown hair, and the other has almost gray eyes, very dark hair, and a darker skin tone. I can't really attribute that to anything but Cherokee, as the rest of our make up is Irish (half, and no "black Irish" to be found), German, Welsh, and English (not sure about the proportions of them). I just think it's interesting that such a small portion of our genetic make up can come through so clearly in those two, but not at all in me or my other sister.

Like Yanke, I need a technology lesson for using photobucket or whatever it is you need to do photos on this new format.  I can manage to get my photos off my camera and onto my computer, but that's it!  But, I'm enjoying seeing everyone else's pics and agree that we have a very nice looking group here!

Some people look as I imagined, others don't.  It's funny how that is.  I remember about 20 years ago when I met the two morning radio DJs I'd listened to for years and they looked NOTHING like I'd imagined after hearing their voices for so long.  It's the same when you read a book that is made into a movie, and the actor doesn't look like you imagined the character looking.

    Great photos everyone!

    Re: So, whatcha look like?

My heritage is german, english, irish, and scottish. My mother's father was from Germany. My grandmother has english with some german. My father's family was english, irish, and scottish, though I don't know the clan names. If I knew the clans, I would have a kilt with the proper scottish tartan and another kilt with the proper irish plaid. Then I could post a pic of me wearing my skirt, er, kilt, and confuse the heck out of everyone. However, I've had people ask me if I'm viking and german immigrants that work at one of our favorite places, Germandeli.com comment on how german I look. The big build, the blond hair and blue eyes, the facial structure. One of my ancestors married an Apache woman but I don't think I'm descended from her. I think her husband was a brother of one my ancestors.

    Re: So, whatcha look like?

My grandpa pretty much looked like the guy on the nickel, but he married a German and their daughter, my mom, came out blonde/blue like her mom, and then married a Lithuanian with blonde/blue.  So you can see that it doesn't take much to get lightened up:-))   Also, some native people were darker than others.  The Mi'kmaq, for example, would normally be lighter than the Narragansetts.  And, one of my favorite elders, now deceased, was a full Penobscot, but had reddish tones in her hair and was very light.  In the circles where I travel, no one pays any attention to your "quantum" or how light (or dark) you are.  They're more concerned about where your heart is and how you live.  We know there are some people who disdain that, and we respect the reasons they might have.  We just choose a different way.

Ron, tell me, what would be under the skirt, er, kilt????  Embarrassed

Since I'm like most of you, I'm behind the camera.  I plan it that way. :o)  Here's the only picture of me on Photobucket.  This is me & my first foster, Trucker on the day he went to his new home.

I would wear it in the scottish tradition, of course.

I don't think anyone else in the thread did it for you, Bonita, so here you are.
