Ron - If I click on your member name (by the avatar or on the board at large), I get the Oops message. In other words, I can't look at your profile or use your username to see contact you.

Just to be clear, this is exactly what I did.

Just to be clear, go to ron's post and click on the Contact button in the upper right and from there, you can write him a PM. Smile

He's apparently got some problems with his account he needs to work out with admin. Probably because he's such a troublemaker. Stick out tongue

Just to be clear, on that button is a figure of a woman.  Does it work if you want to contact a man.

Just to be clear, no. But you can use it to contact ron.

(Sorry, ron, I could NOT resist!)

there is also the ASSUMPTION of cliques.  I've been accused of that myself many times.  For example, if I post in support of a post of Spiritdogs, I'm part of her clique.  Nope.....I just happen to agree with most of what she says.  Until we get to that darned clicker stuff.....and I don't NOT agree with that....I'm just too clumsy to click when I'm supposed to, and too absentminded to remember when the heck I put one of my several.....Surprise

I think that often members will see posters who "stick together" in their minds, and figure that we have some secret society going on.  And I suppose that does happen to some degree, but certainly not the way some folks think.

And, am I still your very favorite??Wink

Hey, Glenda, just getting back on here in time to say NO.  You can't be the favorite.  After all, I am the Clique-er Goddess. Devil   If you are clumsy, you'll just have to be the Marker Goddess.  Remind me to send you a Paws for Praise clicker to replace the ones you lost.  That way, if you do end up here in New England, you'll have my number;-))

Well done, Carla. And don't worry, we trade bon mots just like that at work all day, every day. And in ways much more risque and ribald. And kudos for seizing the opportunity.

Also, there is a bit of a running gag in your quip. A few years ago, some of the people here formed an impromptu "old broad's club." Since I was over 40 at the time and had long hair, I asked and was deemed an honorary (or, is that ornery) old broad. A new member had come into the forum and had learned I was in the old broad's club. I had a pic up of me and Shadow at Sherman Town Center. I was wearing cargo shorts and a t-shirt. The new member said, "That lady sure has hairy legs." So, I kind of started that canard myself.

I'm not sure what the problem is with clicking on my avatar. Perhaps someone more savvy than I (which wouldn't take much) can solve or answer that problem.

Just to be clear, and it looks like my memory is better than yours, the original label was 'sisterhood of oldies' and it came from this quote:

"Again, the OP was specific on the discussion.  This is not a debate on spay/neuter and I don't understand why those that don't qualify to post, are doing so.  I thought this would be a good thread that I can share my experience and observations because of the OP strict guidelines.  But I guess I can't get away from the sisterhood of oldies and their forceful ways of intimidations."

In subsequent posts and threads, members indulged and it turned into the "old broad's club".  Just so you know (a Everyone Loves Raymond moment).

I actually don't recall that thread, but Ron is almost right.  We were/are the tough old broads, and I think I might have kinda/sorta kicked that off since I frequently refer to myself as such.

Oh GROAN.  Yes, there was that wasn't there?  But somehow, I don't think that was quite as lovingly dubbed as the tough old broads club.

And to be honest, I never really passed the initiation for that club.  I noticed again yesterday, I can walk around with a treat bag strapped to my hip and forget to dip into it.  I'm a rather sorry member of that club I guess.......if they haven't banned me by now.

Having been here since the old days, I can attest that, at least since I've been here, everyone has recognized you as the original old broad - which, of course, is fine with me, since I don't have to bear the title of oldest old broad, even if my age would make me eligible.

I was reading this thread and getting a good laugh out of it about the old broads.  I'll bet I'm the oldest broad here at 76 too!

    Re: Just to be clear

Well, then absolutely welcome to the club.

A year or so ago we sort of made my Mom the honory "President" of the tough old broad club.....after she survived a crisis that had the docs wanting us to sign a dnr and give up.  She's 84 now......we didn't think she'd live to see CHRISTMAS that year, yet alone her 83rd b'day.....so she's got you beat in age.

And, again, years don't count for much once you get passed 50.  They're all just a number that the "kids" put on us.......
