    Hi from Minnesota

Hi, my name is Kari and I have an 8 month old Vizsla named Ruby (yeah, the one with the tennis ball lodged in her mouth). I've always been a huge fan of sporting/hunting breeds and grew up with labs most of my life....that is, until about 6 months ago :)  I enjoy running and was looking for a training partner that wouldn't grumble when asked "one more mile?". I stumbled across this site while researching growth plates in puppies as I am anxiously awaiting Ruby to be old enough for running with me. I was drawn in, however, by some of the posts I'd seen regarding housetraining, crate training, puppies, etc... as Ruby and I have just been through the toughest part and I hope our recent experience can be of some help to others. I'm also looking forward to checking out more topics throughout this site, especially having to do with Vizslas, exercise and training.

Hi Kari and RubyRoo, Welcome to the community. I know how you feel about the "one more mile?" grumble. We are avid trail riders and usually average about 1,000 miles a year riding rough, secluded wooded trails. We are also interested in Search and Rescue so we needed a companion that might fit both catagories. We found her: "Z" an English Coonhound. Oh yes, a coonhound. She is only 10 months old and is showing progress on the trails and is in the beginning stages of air-scenting and tracking.

Welcome! It's great to have another vizzy-v on the forum. Smile  Ruby will love to go running with you. Rupert runs with us when we go mountain biking. We go anywhere from 3-5 miles, and he's always ready for more.

    Hi,

I'm also in Minnesota and have a very high energy GSP puppy as well as an older lab.  Morrison loves to run with Vizzies so he might give Ruby a run for her money.

    Hi Kari,

Welcome!  Minnesota is a beautiful state!  Was there a couple of years ago (in the summer, lol) and I was just in awe of how beautiful it was!
