Well the weather was nice enough yesterday (65' in a New England winter?) to attempt something I've wanted to do for a while - bring Cairo to the beach. He's only ever been to a beach once before and not for very long, so I thought it'd be a fun trip for him. My friend and his little Parson Russel, Merlin, came along as well. We were pretty proud of both dogs...the two of them have pretty bad histories as far as reactivity goes but they do well together surprisingly enough. They have it worked out so that they just coexist without bothering the other. We went to Duxbury beach in MA.
Me and the little goober:

Merlin:

He loves chasing sand if you throw it for him...he totally goes nuts over it so he's a lot of fun to take action shots of :)

Cairo and Merl walking nicely together! They were so cute - Cairo wanted very badly to walk with Merlin because it was obvious Merl was having more fun than he was (Merl is an experienced beach dog), but he knew Merl would snap at him if he got too close...so he'd just zig zag back and forth and look longingly over at Merlin.

There's no doubt that Merlin is dang handsome..

To be honest I'm not sure what Cairo thought of the beach. He didn't seem to know what to do in such a large open space (he's used to walking in forests) and he stuck pretty close to me the whole time. I think next time I'll bring Nikki; I think she'll appreciate it more.
