    Really bad puppy breath!

Hello everyone! I'm pretty new here but I just thought I'd give this a shot. I have a 6 month old puppy who has the worse breath EVER! I've tried Greenies and puppy breath mints. I'm just wondering if any of you are aware of any tricks I can use to freshen up his breath. I was told it's just because he's losing his puppy teeth right now. I've had 4 puppies and have never had one with breath this bad. Any tips would be great! Thanks in advance! Em & Hoagie ;)

    Bad Breath

Do you brush his teeth?  Do you add probiotics to his diet?

It all depends on what it smells LIKE.  My very first stop would be at the vets simply because a lot of things, including renal problems, liver problems, etc. can make the breath stink and you don't want to cover up something that could potentially be a health issue.

If could definitely be related to teething, but it's a good idea to have him checked out by your vet. My dogs had rank breath during teething, but as soon as all the adult teeth were in they were back to normal. I didn't do anything about it since it was a temporary situation that resolved itself.

Both mine and my aunts puppies had a bit of stink breath during teething.  Mine also had bad breath for a few days after I started adding a little canned food to her kibble.  It went away though.

Thanks for the great advice! We actually have an appointment with the vet right after Christmas, so I will be sure to talk to them about his bad breath :p Thanks again! Em
