For those who have not dealt with a Husky, that is an outstanding recall. GSDs are known for great obedience, cattle dogs can respond to different whistles for different moves, a field-trained Lab can run 100 yards out, flush the prey, and run 20 yards lateral out of gun range and run back, but a Husky can ignore you if that smell on the wind is juicy enough. A few mushers, during a race, have held on for dear life as their team of Huskies veered off to chase a rabbit. So, congrats to you for achieving that. And good job, rockin' Ronin.

I was going to say, that looks like a pretty darn good husky recall to me! I don't think Dakota has ever recalled like that before.

Thank you guys.....if I told you Ronin was a very special dog....some might laugh, but he has been really receptive when it comes to training....the really big eye opener has been to be more fun than anything that comes across.....lol.....trust me, I have been a fool in the dogs eyes before, especially the Shepherds......lol

Special kudos to Ronin's buds.....(Nanook is not in the pic),I think he might have learned a lot from the Shepherds.....

Not easy with a Husky, at times. I knew of a Sibe that won off-leash obedience awards. One day, his owner had him outside of containment, off-leash, visiting with whomever. The dog smelled something and took off and never came back. It's not impossible to get a Husky to recall, obviously. But it's not always easy. How do you deal with a tough dog that can stand colder temperatures than you can imagine while running, at an easy trot, faster than the fastest human on record, for hours and will do so if they smell something good on the wind?

    Kudos to you, again.

Wow! Ronin is such a good looking dog and what an accomplish for you.  You going to have to talk more about Huskies here cause I did not know it is hard to train a Husky on recall.  BTW, nice car and I bet that car is not the dog's transport.

    Re: Woah....Loose Husky....lol.....snownose

Wow, that's really good.  At the dog park at my apt. complex there's two gates to get in and one day I didn't notice until it was too late that someone had left the one on the other side open and I look over and Miya was about the length of a tennis court away from the gate on the wrong side just sniffing around and I called her name once and she looked up at me and just started running full speed towards me.  I was soooo proud of her.

However, I'm not stupid and there's no way I'll ever trust her off leash unless in a fenced in area because I've seen how she gets if she sees a squirrel or something, she about takes my arm off.  Even though she's only half husky (other half is GSD) I don't think I want to risk it.  My chi on the other hand, won't leave his mommy's side!
