    She pee'd twice indoors! EEK!

So I took Harley to work with me. My boss has a dog and thought I should bring mine along today too and see how that works out. Well they get along okay... he still gets growly a bit but he just hasnt been socialized well enough (thats for sure).

Anyway... back to the topic... I caught Harley peeing twice on two rugs! One was just about an hour after she went to pee outside.

    WHY? Q_Q

I know she doesnt pee anywhere inside my house. Why here?

Thank god the boss wasnt around. Good thing I brought my cleaning stuff too O-o.

    Any insight would be appreciated.

This is actually pretty common. Dogs do  not generalize well so a dog who's been housetrained doesn't initially automatically make the connection that the "no peeing in the house" rule applies to all buildings everywhere, and cars too. So when going places outside the home with a recently housetrained dog, you have to step back and go back to the stuff you used to do when you were first housetraining--supervise constantly or crate when you can't do that, more frequent trips outside, etc.... Once a dog gets this treatment in a few different places and becomes hosuebroken for those places as well, it gets a lot easier for them to generalize the rule and it does click that their housetraining means anywhere inside, but it takes doing the training over in a few different places before they make the connection usually.

For Marlowe, he first got the rule down at our house, but it took more time for him to generalize that to the car (pee in the car=not good!!!), and also to the pet store and to other peoples' houses. But once he got the car and the pet store and our inlaws' house down, he pretty much was able to take it from there.

Could also be a bit of marking -- leash her to you if you need to.

    Thank you all so much!

I kind of thought of those things but I wasnt too sure. Since I did catch her in the act both times and said No and took her outside that was that. But I will keep this in mind again when we travel to relatives and what not for the holidays.

I did clean up the spots so that they didnt smell anymore - I was also thinking that maybe those were old pee spots of my boss' dog that werent removed of smell that well.

I also find it a bit odd that when she first came to our house - she never pee'd inside. Maybe she knew that my house is her future home :D
