    threedogjeep:

No one else mentioned this but I LOVE Solid Gold Hundenflocken...as does my holistic vet. I have three dogs and the poop-scooping in our yard has never been better. In fact, Last check up the vet asked me "What are you feeding her???"

We feed Hundenflocken too, and have been pleased with it. I don't know about the various pet foods and advantages or disadvantages.  All I know is that HF works for us.

    "Are you a dog trainer?"
"No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night."

I've been using Innova Evo as well but Kane doesn't seem to like it. Gonna switch to Blue to see if his appetite improves then I'll try Natural Balance.

Glad someone mentioned Solid Gold, that was the other brand that was highly recommended to me when I was buying dog food.  So far so good with the Natural Balance.  Just waiting for the skin to clear.

Solid gold holistique for the dal and EaglePack duck and oatmeal for the lab and doxie. I just bought a bag of California Natural Herring and Sweetpotato for the dal--thought I'd try it for her allergies.

They ask so little and give so much!

    Re: Best Dog Food

My opinion of the best dog food is Life's Abundance.  I can not say enough good things about it.  It made by the batch, with human grade ingredients.  All natural preservatives, the shelf life of only 6 weeks.  It is only available on the internet at www.SmartDiet1.net.  A friend turned me onto it a while back with the pet food recall.  They staff a nationally recognized holistic veterinarian.  You can call and ask questions regarding your pets health and the food.  It's wonderful.

I try too feed Canidae All Life stages. When I can't get to the local store that carries it, I feed the Nutro Natural Large breed Lamb & Rice.

Well, I have been feeding Tracker Natural Balance for a few weeks now and I am happy so say that his itching has decreased considerable.  He no longer wakes up in the middle of the night to get a few good itches in.  Yay.  Good luck everyone with their kibble.

Solid Gold is a good food, but lordy, it isn't worth the price (or maybe I just live in a dog-food-inflated area), and I wouldn't trust the company founder, or whatever she is, as far as I could throw her, with all of those misleading claims issues. I'm still a big Candiae and Innova fan.

Around here Solid Gold "Just a Wee Bit" is a little less than $9 for a 4 lb. bag. I think that's a pretty good price, but I only have a couple of small dogs to feed, so it's hard for me to gauge whether it's that great of a price. I wish I could feed Innova, but it caused very loose stool over here.

Edited to add that I think the owner of Solid Gold is coo coo for coco puffs. lol But I can't imagine that she formulates the food herself.

It about 47$ for a large bag of BATM. I compare it to Candidae at 26, or Innova which costs a bit more but has a much denser calories profile...and yeah, its a bit much for me. For smaller dogs, yeah, I am sure the price isn't too much of an issue

Haha...I haven't heard that phrase in so long, that made my night, tee hee.......

    Re: Best Dog Food

When I got Biscuit, he came with a box of Purina. Thankfully it was a small box and when it was nearly empty I did my research and started feeding him quality food. We tried an expensive brand, Wellness puppy, that was not part of the big recall, and it was good. However, after many months on that, I asked my local pet boutique owner for recommendations and she opined that Wellness puts too much $$ into the fancy bags, and she recommended Evo, which is a much higher protein food. I started with the poultry small bites flavor, and Biscuit liked it. I switched to the red meat small bites, for variety, and he really loves that one. It is pricey, especially in San Francisco, but I feed him less, because it is so nutrient/protein dense. My sister feeds her mini schnauzer Royal Canin, which has different formulations for different breeds, and she is happy with it.

    Biscuity:

I'm sold on the Evo, though, because of the excellent quality of the very few ingredients.

Very few ingredients? It actually has a lot.
