New Puppies & Fleas Please Help

I have never had fleas on my dogs before but squirrels have invaded my yard this year... I have a 5lb pom with two 4 day old puppies (3 & 4oz) and I have found two fleas one on puppy and one on her, I washed all her bedding and am going to treat my other 4 poms just in case but is there anything I can do for momma and babies

You can wash momma and babies in Dawn dish detergent, be very careful to use warm water and to dry them with a warm dryer.  Or you could use Ditacious Earth...sorry I know thats probably the wrong way to pronounce that and spell it

No flea meds should be used until 12 weeks old

Please Lord if I must lead only one life, let it be at the end of an Am Staff

well...Frontline can be used/is approved for use, on nursing and pregnant bitches. It's what I use and my girls are never off it.

Is there something in the Dawn? I have only found 2 fleas I gave all my other dogs baths today and there were no signs of fleas in the water if they had them would there have been some in the water do you know?. Mama is really starting to scratch or I'm just over monitoring her I don't know. Sounds silly but I have used frontline when we go camping for ticks but they have just never had fleas and the babies are so small.

Have you put it on them when they were nursing newborns or do they just have it on all the time and not freshly done? I tried earlier today to get a hold of my vet but he will not be back until tomorrow and frontline is just what I was asking about.Sorry for the double post I just found this site today and I'm just learning my way around... It is fantastic!!!!!!

It depends on the timing...if I need to yes I do...I am trying to recall the earliest I've done it...think it was when they were a couple weeks along. If the months up...then it's up, and I reapply. I keep them off the smear on her neck for several days...they usually congregate around her teats anyhow lol.

    From their website...

    11. Do the FRONTLINE Brand Products have any additional label claims?
Effective May 2003, FRONTLINE Plus and FRONTLINE Top Spot were approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to be used on pregnant, lactating and breeding dogs and cats. FRONTLINE Spray is not approved to be used on pregnant, lactating and breeding dogs and cats. In addition, FRONTLINE Plus small size that was initially labeled for 11-22 lb dogs has now been approved for the use on any size dog up to 22 lbs

You can also flea comb the pups and dunk any you find in dawn/water mix. And make sure Mom isn't itching because of soap left in the coat...rinse rinse rinse!

I can't thank you enough!!! I will get it first thing in the morning. I just kept thinking of the poor little things being all bit up for 8 to 12 weeks before I could treat them with anything, and I couldn't reach my vet.I don’t mind telling you I have been going nuts I’ve washed everything in the house LOL including the other 4 dogs
