    Runny Poo = Sick Dog

I came home from work to find 3 piles of very runny poo on my carpet.  I work during the night so my husband was home but I guess she didn'r ring the bell to out and he was asleep.  She hasnt had an accident in the house for a couple months now.  Anyway, I slept for a couple hours and just got up to let her out and her poo was almost water now.  The only thing she had to eat out of the ordinary was a raw neck bone.  Would that cause an upset belly if she;s never had one.  She also ingested some rubber from her cuz toy but that was a couple days ago and I seen that one show up in her poo.  She is eating, drinking and playing fine but if she continues to have diarrhea tomorrow then I will take her to the vet.

Our dal can get pretty runny poo after bones. We got her a lamb bone once--one of the few I thought she could have without getting all itchy, and she got really bad after that one. took a couple of days to clear up.I gave her some pumpkin to help it.

They ask so little and give so much!

Boy, the list of things that can cause an upset belly is quite long.  Here is a start - eating something she shouldn't (insect, mouse, etc.), intestinal virus, intestinal parasite, intestinal worms.

A couple of Tbs of plain (not spiced), canned pumpkin will help to firm up her stool.

You could also pick up some Safe-Guard granules at a pet store (or feed store) and deworm her.  Safe-Guard is a safe, gentle dewormer and is the same as Panacur that you could get from the vet.  It will kill roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, Taenia tapeworms, plus the parasite Giardia (bad water).

DO NOT use any pet store wormer other than Safe-Guard!!  There is some pretty toxic stuff out there.

Re: Runny Poo = Sick Dog

Well it was a long day but she is feeling better.  I had to take her outside a lot cuz she was needing to go...a alot.  The weird thing was she was drooling a lot aswell.  She does some drooling cuz that's just the kind of breed she is, but it was way more than normal.  I went to check on her while she was sleeping and her whole neck was wet from drool as well as a little puddle on the tile.  I wiped her face and patted her head with a cool wet cloth cuz she seemed hot.  She hasnt pooped since 3pm so that's a good sign cuz before that it was like every two hours.or less. She's been very playful and normal and the drool has calmed down as of later this evening so I don't think a vet visit will be required.  Thanks for the input.
