Does she have a cold??

  irishairyfairy Joined on 08-27-2007 Posts 10 Points 5	Does she have a cold?? Reply Contact My dog was spayed a week ago (she stayed in the vets overnight) and today it seems like she has a cold. She is having trouble breathing normally, she seems to be conjested. She doesnt appear to have any other symptons. Any ideas on what this may be??

Reply Contact   Is she eating and drinking okay?  Still acting normal?  She could've picked up Kennel Cough while at the vets.  Kennel Cough is basically a doggie version of a cold and usually isn't serious.  However, you should mention it to your vet. Do you have an appt to have the sutures or staples out?  If so, you could bring it up then. ~ Cathy ~

Reply Contact Honestly if this lasts more than a day or two, or if it worsens and there IS trouble breathing, I'd get to the vet.  "labored breathing" can be a sign of not good stuff -- some stuff you can let go, but congestion or problems breathing would get me to a vet pretty fast.

I experienced this same scenerio a week ago, a dog with a very very mild sounding congestion, and suddenly I now have 2 dogs with very HEAVY sounding congestion, one that had to be admitted in ER overnight for breathing issues 48hrs ago, and is still having difficulty expelling boogers from his head. All 4 dogs are on heavy Rx prescriptions, and 2 are to be kept very calm/quiet - this has been expensive as well, and seems to be lingering. Currently owned by: Kuaui (chihuahua/Dat); Missy & Dakota (pomeranians); Rivers (NSDTR/Golden mix)

  Re: Does she have a cold?? Reply Contact Kennel cough, Bortatella a sniffle by any name.... sigh  sure sounds as if your baby has the dog crud. Even if she was vaccinated ( nasal or injected) keep in ind the vaccine only covers some of the 27 or so varieties of the crud. Let your vet know asap, post surgical dogs do not need this type of complication and your vet can start her on an aggressive treatment to get her well quickly. Good luck !!
