Re: How do your breed lists rate?

I absolutely love both of the Border Collie Boards I'm on - both have general sections, but one board is working BC focused and the other is rescue BC focused. :)  There are def some hot topics but overall both boards are very welcoming and FULL of great info.

    Working: http://www.bordercollie.org/boards

    Rescue: http://bcrescue.org/phpbb2

The ACD boards I belong too are much slower but are pretty good in general.  I love their rescue section.  Members seem to be mostly conformation people or rescue people, with a few "regular" pet owners.  Addy: http://www.aucado.us/forums

I'm on a couple of different GSD boards - I'm a moderator on the one that Liesje is on. I joined 4-1/2 years ago, and I really like it. It's a pretty active board, with a diverse international group. It covers the gamut, from ordinary pet owners to people active in obedience, rally, agility, Schutzhund, and other sports. There are SAR people, law enforcement people, disabled people with service dogs, people with therapy dogs, you name it. Also, some very experienced people on a wide variety of health and nutrition topics, and it's really active in breed rescue too. Oh, and lots of pictures!

I like this board a lot too. The behavior and training topics are particularly interesting, with a variety of opinions, and some very knowledgeable people participating in some great discussions.

Re: How do your breed lists rate?

I belonged to a Sibe board for a bit, but it just annoyed me.  It was full of people making excuses for having untrained dogs because Sibes are 'Untrainable' for anything but mushing.  And very few of these people actually mushed.  "Sibes are natural leash pullers." "Sibes have natural prey drives." "Sibes are too independant for recalls." "Sibes climb fences so you have to keep them in a fortress." "My sibe doesn't meet the standard, but that's ok cause racing huskies never meet the standard so i think I'll breed mine even though she is not even a sled dog."  And a whole bunch of people supporting each others bad ideas.   So I left that one pretty fast.  Hmmm.... maybe it was a husky board... in any event it didn't appeal to me.

The mushing boards I find are very cliquey.  And if you aren't an experienced musher, don't bother posting, unless you are looking for an instructor to pay to teach you how to mush.  And if you only have 2 huskies.... well that's not a team... so don't bother even looking for an instructor.

Re: How do your breed lists rate?

Since I read your post, I went looking for a Border Collie forum to see what I could find out there and let me tell you.  They don't talk as much there as they do here.  At least everything here is up to date.  I responded to a post, only to find out it was posted 4 mos. ago, boy do I feel like an idiot.  After that, I started paying more attention to the dates, and geez, they all seem to be old.  So I came back here and sure enough some of the posts I gave my two cents worth to were already updated with new entries.  It's much better here, and even though I still don't know what I'm doing and only found out how to add those little quote boxes (yesterday) I feel more comfortable here than there.

Although, I do have to add, I was only online about 10 min. and had 3 people wanting to be a "Pup Pal", haven't experienced that here yet.

Yes, I am on some Shih Tzu forums. They are fantastic! Lots in common of course.
