How to Make Active Links in Posts

To make clickable links in your post, here's how the Linking Feature works:

    1. In your reply window, type the title you wish to be seen by others (example: "Cara and Mia Video")

    2. Go to the address line of the page you wish to link to, select the address and copy it into your buffer (hit CNTR C).

3 Go back to your reply and select your title (Cara and Mia Video) with your mouse.

    4. In the row above the reply window, click the little picture of the chain. (In the same row as the smilies) The title text must be selected for the chain to be "clickable"

    5. In the pop-up window, paste (CNTR V) the address in the space behind "Link URL"

    6. "Target". Use the pull down menu to select  Open Link in a NEW window.

    7. Then click "Insert".

Alternatively, to manually make your own links:

    1. Copy and paste the link into your post like this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHYE4RX71Ec

    2. Add this to the front of it: Open square bracket, the letters "url" and an equals sign:

    [ url=

    (Without the space)

    3. Add this to the back of it: Close square bracket, The text you wish to appear in your post and then /url surrounded by square brackets:

]This is My Link[ /url ]

    (Without the spaces)

This is what the final product will look like:

    [ url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHYE4RX71Ec]This is My Link[ /url ]

    (Without the spaces)

And this is what will be seen in your post:

    This is My Link

Maybe there should be a "How to..." section somewhere so we can keep tid-bits like this all in one spot.

I think that's a good idea, especially for those of us who are intermittently technochallenged;-)  Speaking of which, can anyone tell me how to remove that irritating little "edit tags" thing from my posts - I have no idea how it got there or how to get rid of it.

You can't get rid of the "edit tags" thingy...members see it on their own posts, mods/me see it on EVERY post....eek.

I have put a sticky up in a few sections regarding the things tech support most often gets asked about.  Anything anyone wants me to add to it, just let me know.

Yes you can do that.  I just copied and pasted the link to this thread.
