  RE: Would Love Some Advice Reply Contact Aw, she's precious.   Janet posted a link to this thread in the Breeding and Whelping section so that folks who understand "new mom" behavior can come by and give some pointers.  I know that Reese is already a fearful dog and hopefully those who have more knowledge will come by to tell us if we can expect that to change in any way due to the puppies.  (Janet - excellent idea cross posting !)   Keep us posted please.   You're family now LOL People ask me if I think dogs go to heaven.   RE: Would Love Some Advice Reply Contact ORIGINAL: Sham85 If you want to get rid of the lady without feeling like your being mean(even though she deserves it) just say all the puppies are already taken and then ignore any further emails or attempts to contact you.  She'll likely fade away into the background without you having to deal with her getting too upset with you.   RE: Would Love Some Advice Reply Contact So much good advise I just IMO think you should charge 300.00 for the pups with out papers and look up rescues for their contracts, then type your own out stating they are pet quality and you have to have a copy of the neuter certificate. You don't really know the parent even though she is so cute you just don't know and she did not come from a geed place. That women sound nuts wanting a pup, all the money you put into the dog, I wouldn't bother with her at all. Get caller ID if you don't have it. Good luck with them all and I hope she is a great mom.

  RE: Would Love Some Advice Reply Contact NC_cockermama: We went home with antibiotics and a de-wormer, some Frontline and Heartguard. The next time you need to get some heartworm "preventative", please consider Interceptor.  Interceptor kills baby heartworms and intestinal worms (not tapeworms) with just one chemical.  Heartgard Plus requires two chemicals to do that.  You may need to get a prescription and order Interceptor, but I think it is worth it.      In addition, some question the effectiveness of Heartgard (note that there is no "u") now that the dosage of the heartworm "preventative" (Ivermectin) has been reduced to accommodate the herding breeds.  Ivermectin is very toxic to herding breeds and may be toxic to mixed breeds with herding breed ancestry.      This post has info on the heartworm life cycle: http://forum.dog.com/asp/m.asp?m=305506        ProHeart6 is a shot for heartworms, but please do not use it if it comes back on the market.  It put 6 months worth of pesticide in a dog's body with a very questionable time-release mechanism.  There is no antidote if your dog reacts to it.  Owner convenience is just not worth the risk.  Interceptor and Heartgard are out of the dog's system in 24-48 hours.      Many dogs died or had their health destroyed by the shot when their kidneys, liver, and/or immune system gave out.  Note that a large portion of the kidneys and/or liver can be destroyed before blood tests show problems so some dogs were OK for a couple of shots - then all hell broke loose.  Other dogs got ill after the first shot.  Some had seizures before they even got out the vet's door.
