    Rott/Bernese Mnt Dog mix --UPDATE!!

I have a friend who has been caring for a Rottweiller/Bernese Mountain Dog mixed puppy.  It was a relative's dog, a long story, the circumstances are extenuating, she can't keep the dog forever as she has so much on her plate now.  She lives in the next county over from me, so our shelter will not take the dog because we are so full.  She doesn't want to have to turn the pup in to her county shelter either.

I met the puppy last night, she's 3 1/2 months old, is short-haired, colored like a Rottie except has the white streak across her chest.  She will be a big dog, likely around 80lbs or more.

If anyone knows of a way to help this girl, please let me know.  My friend is concerned that this girl gets a really good home.  I will try to get pics.

Oh Tina...if I wasnt so far away.  Well we are probably at our limit but I highly recommend both breeds.  Shadow and Bear , both dearly loved and such wonderful boys were rotties.  They were so loving and devoted to us.  Hot Shot our Bernese has the most calm, loving temperment.  I would have loved to see him grow up from a puppy, coming from an abusive back ground my hubby and I both cant imagine what could have caused anyone to treat him badly, he is huge but gentle as a lamb.  Hot Shot is approx 150 lbs and both our Rottie's were over 125 lbs  this puppy has a chance to be an awesome large pet for someone.  Please keep us informed about her placement.  Good luck little one!

Yeah, I thought 80lbs was a low estimate, but supposedly that's what the mother weighs (she is the mix, dad is pure BMD).

Just to add, I've known the lady who has her for 15 years, so I can guarantee she's a "for the life of the pet" person.

I'd seriously take her if she wasn't a pup.  It'd be too hard on Agnes, plus I'd have 2 dogs peeing on the floor all the time - ugh!

Have you tried contacting breed rescue?  Rottie or BMD rescue might help you....?

Well oddly enough, even tho we were not planning to add to our family, I have been contacted today about a 5 year old landseer.... we have always talked about rescueing a newfoundland.  I dont know if Hubby will think this is something to check into or not but the Rescue is about 3 hours from us sooooo....we'll see.  How many 150 lb dogs can 2 people handle:)

Well, after some careful thought we decided we could not take on the Landseer, he is beautiful.

I'm not sure.  My weekend was kind of busy, so haven't had a chance to find out.

Re: Rott/Bernese Mnt Dog mix --UPDATE!!

Good news, my friend found a home for the puppy.  She thinks it's going to work out, and told the people if it didn't, she'd take the dog back.  Here's hoping the new home works out perfectly!
