Dog freaks out when I have sex

My dog has recently started pooping and peeing in the house when my boyfriend and I have sex. This is the only time he has accidents and he didn't start until a few weeks ago even though my boyfriend and I have been together for a year. The only thing that's changed is that we just moved into a new place. My questions are why did this start all of a sudden and how do I get him to stop? We've tried putting him in his crate when we're intimate, but he claws at the kennel door frantically trying to get out until his paws get raw.

Just a heads up to all - there was a similar but more light hearted thread a while back which I participated in,.... and there were Repercussions.  So I'm not risking it this time!  Smile

What you describe are two events that could cause your dog to be anxious, but I suspect it is the move that has caused the most anxiety.  Anxiety is often at the root of house breaking lapses.  I would advise two things: go back to house training 101.  Your dog may not realize that the rules are the same in this new place that looks so different and unfamiliar (and perhaps scary).  Secondly, get a copy of Patricia McConnell's "I'll be Home Soon" and follow the protocol for avoiding separation anxiety.

I second that, Spiritdogs. In my layman's opinion, the dog has yet to generalize potty training. New house, new scenario. And the time needed alone by the humans, is a new separation anxiety in a new place.
