I personally like the Muriel Lee book and Chris Walkowicz book, Successful Dog Breeding. Muriel's book is a good quick reference and Chris' book is a nice read with 'personality' to calm you down when the event is near and to read before you get into the whole thing. I keep those two next to the whelping box and recommend them highly.
