my 17 y.o. poodle had two seizures about a month and a half ago. the vet said to watch him. he had two more seizures this past weekend. we brought him into the emergency room and he was treated by two vets who did not know him, although they did have all of his records. our vet is on vacation for the week. they kept him over night. they said that they could not be sure that he didn't have a stroke, because he was not walking and his back legs were scissoring. i told them that was normal for him and that he will walk on non-skid surfaces, i.e. grass, cement, rugs, etc. they put him on prednisone to reduce swelling in his brain; they are assuming he has a brain tumor. he has been taken off of deramaxx and has had his tramadol upped. they also put him on zonisamide for the seizures. he seems to be getting better; however, he seems to be getting more senile. he walks around the house and yard aimlessly. if he does slip on the tile floor, he cannot get himself up and will whine. he is very hard-of-hearing and now i think his vision is failing him as well. his appetite is still quite good. i'm not sure what i am asking. maybe, should i continue to see improvements? is the prednisone a wise plan of action? when do you know enough is enough?
