    Early stage of cataracts

Went to the eye doctor today for my annual haven't been in a few years, well when the doctor was done he left but he wrote in my chart that I had real early stage of cataracts. The nurse told me she said she thought I should know, she said its in the really really early stage of cataracts I'm guessing now thats what the doctor meant when he said she doesn't need surgery.

When I was 25 I had a cloudy line in my eye that I could see went to the er because I didn't know what was going on they referred me to an eye doctor saw him he said I had 65 yr old lady eyes and sent me to a specialist and that specialist said I believe it was my retina was going to detach after awhile.

I'm guessing there isn't a way to reverse the cataracts but is there something I can do to maybe stop it or slow it down?

I've been told by the eye doctor I had 65 yr old lady eyes when I was 25 and when I was 28 I was told I had 68 yr old lady knees so I guess I'm in my late 60's Tongue Tied  not good when I'm only 31

I would be calling the doctor tomorrow and getting some information from him.  You shouldn't have to be guessing about what's going on with your eyes.  I have problems with my eyes and I know what it's like to fear losing your vision.  At your young age, you need to get some answers.   Don't give up or let anyone give you the run around.

    Re: Early stage of cataracts

He was pretty fast he came in dilated my eyes left so they can dilate came back looked into my eyes and told the nurse a number believe he said 15 and that was it told her since I have diabetes to see me in a year.  My doctor referred him to me I go to the health department since its the cheapest and my doctor that left months ago put my name in a program and I was on the waiting list for a year and I was finally at the top of the list.

Didn't know my doctor did this, so I seen the eye doctor for free which is good for me since I have no health insurance but he was really quick and I guess since its really really early stage maybe he thought I shouldn't worry about it not sure.

I'm gonna call and see, I just wanna know what I can do to slow it down even more. Thanks Jackie

I go to the doctors tomorrow Angry gonna see another new one because the new one I had left tomorrow I'll find out if I have gout. Also getting meds for diabetes

Good luck with the other doc tomorrow.  It's awful to have to wait so long to be seen by a doctor and then to be rushed through like that with no answers to your questions is upsetting, to say the least.

If in early stage you have quite a few years before you will need to have them taken off.  My Daughter had old eyes also and now at 57 she just had them removed and is so happy with the result.  I am having mine done in January also. I am 77 though.  She also just had a detached retina and it is now healed and she can go back to work.  I'd check with the eye Dr. anyway though.

I would suggest getting some daily Lutein in your diet.  You can get it in a vitamin but as usual the natural source is best.  It can be found in such veggies as spinach and kale.  Not sure how effective it will be at fighting of the cataracts but it has been found to be a great promoter of a healthy eye.  Macular Degeneration runs in my family and it has always been a suggested to use Lutein as a way to help prevent it.
