    Mc rest day

The dogs do not understand that day light savings time is all about sleeping in.

I got most of my house cleaned yesterday so today is going to be about play time: hike, shopping, training.

I have somewhat of a headache and my jaw is tight again (stress), so some exercise at the gym and a soak in the hot tub is in order.

Jewels I understand. And for the record cats don't care if it is daylights savings either.

I was sorry to hear about Leroy Paige. God speed.

I posted this over in the saturday thread but will move it here........

I survived the scariest creepy event of the night and earned the right to say I am the dog mom of the year in this house.

How does one earn such a title you ask? It is simple. Just follow the 8 easy steps below.

    1. Buy your dog a set of nice marrow bones and give him one when you get home on Friday at 3pm.

    2. Watch said dog go off with his tail a waggin to "bury it" somewhere in the house.

    3. Forget about said bone and do your own thing.

    4. Spend a glorious day doing all kinds of things. No thoughts of bones, at all.

    5. Go into the bedroom to change for bed and not bat one eyelash when your dog jumps on the bed, peels off the covers, exposes your pillows and joyfully grabs his now "marinate for optimum taste under a humans pillows for 31 hours, extra seasonings will be added if your human sleeps on it and does not know" marrow bone.

    6. Share a similar look with your dog.. His: Oh good it's perfect!.. Mine: "Perfect!"

    7. Wait! I get wife of the year too, because I did not beat the DH profusely about the head and ears while he laughed hysterically at me.

    8. Calmly walk to the trunk and get a new pillow case.

Sigh....hehe it was very funny. I had actually teased the DH that Kord was going to bury it under his pillow.

    Paybacks are a bitch.

Ha!  I was just about to post the same thing!

Dawn, that was pretty entertaining about Kord's bone.  And that it happened on Halloween...how fitting, lol.

So I ran out of candy last night at, like, 7:30.  I bought 90 candy bars from Costco.  BF and I had one each, so I had given out candy to 88 kids in the span of about 45 minutes.  Wow.  I felt bad, but, sheesh, I'm not gonna spend $50 on candy.  My talking pirate skull was a big hit, and only made one kid cry.

Ugh, I brought work home this weekend, so I guess I should get to it soon.  Blech.

I got 40 trick or treaters.  On a rainy cold Halloween.  Wow!  Where I lived before, we would get maybe two.

My Halloween story:  I closed the girls in my bedroom with Moo-tubes.  Chloe started whining, so I figured I would have to carry her with me to answer the door.  Ummm, the door was locked from the other side.  I had to call a friend to help me remove the door knob.  Embarrassed  Chloe whined loudly for the fifteen minutes or so that it took to release her.

As soon as I saw "rest day" in the thread title this song popped into my head.  Thanks Julie, I'll be singing it all day!

    Dawn, ewwwww!

We had a great party last night.  Good friends, food, & music.  You can't beat that.  The dogs had a blast getting to visit with everyone.  Brinxx & Bevo both went into the moonwalk with the kids.  I'm sure that Brinxx went in because her kid was in there.  Bevo, otoh, snuck in to cause mayhem.  I heard screaming, so I ran over to see what was going on.  When I got there, Bevo was trying to run psycho, insane zoomies around the moonwalk.  It would have been hilarious except for the fact that he's supposed to be taking it easy.  Hmm  He was quite pissed when his leash came out, & he was forced to walk around with me the rest of the evening.

I already have most of the clean up taken care of, so I'm hoping for a laid back day.

Jackie, I hope that you made it through the night safely!

Amanda, I saw Cage the Elephant open for Silversun Pickups in RI this month :)

Ari definitely doesn't understand daylight savings. She woke me around around 6am, after the SO and I both ignored her whining for quite some time. I took her out to do her thing, came back in and now that I was FULLY awake, she curled up on the couch and took a nap. GRRRRRRRR. If she weren't so darn cute....

I LOVE the coffee I picked up. I recently quit caffeinated coffee. I had to for so many health reasons, but I missed my Green Mountain Southern Pecan coffee. Well, I found it yesterday in Decaf! It's not quite as good as the full caff, but pretty darn close! Sad to say, finding my favorite flavored coffee in decaff made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I have no idea what Ari ate recently, but if she lets out one more nasty room clearing fart, I'm kicking her out to go survive in the wild. Ick!

     Oh, BEVO!

We hid out, and I didn't even see any trick or treaters. That's better, because Emma is a grouchy little snot, these days, and yesterday was especially bad. Then, I thought I'd sleep in this morning, forgetting about the time change. I didn't understand, at 6:30, why she was nudging me. DUH! It was actually 7:30, and she needed medicine.

    Re: Mc rest day

Well, it was ME who didn't get daylight savings time.  I woke up at 5:15.  Sigh.

After a miserable rainy day yesterday, today is bright and sunny, but pretty cool.

Some idiot...and in fact our ONLY trick or treater bunch....walked right past the plastic pumpkin OUTSIDE the fence, and surrounded by the candle looking lanterns...actually the pumpkin was hanging from the fence and illuminated by half dozen lantern....VERY visable, through a closed gate, up onto the porch with a bunch of little kids (did I mention tht the porch light was turned OFF) and didn't want to leave with 6 large dogs going nuts.  We weren't home yet and they don't mind DS as well as they do us.  Typically if the porch light isn't on folks know that they aren't welcome....and DS said NO lights were even on in the front of the house.  Sigh.  Some people should NOT be given charge of children.

I want to go to the park and feed the ducks. Like I don't already feed enough critters!Smile

We only had five groups of kids.  Way too much candy left over.  I'll get DH to take it to work.  IT people have an endless hunger for candy. lol

Dawn, I hope my dogs don't get that idea from Kord.  I would not be amused to find a marrow bone in my bed.  I did find a few feathers this morning when I changed the sheets.......... orange and black feathers.  What a glorious morning it is. :)

Made some scrumptious pumpkin spice pancakes this morning, thanks Deb. Wink  Now for a nap with Twister.  Life is good.

I have no idea, nor do I want to have an idea, of what this devious plan of Jackie's was. Esp if Amanda and Deb were in on it. My virgin mind does not need to know.

Day #3 of being sick. Thank the lord, BF went over to his parents. I'm a grouch when I'm sick and I like to suffer in solitude, LOL.

And now my sick butt has to head over to the library, ick. Not even for good books, I need books about elementary science.

Meg, the devious plan was all Deb's.  I am only checking in of Jackie because Deb asked us to!

FWIW, I have a "virgin mind" as well.  It's one of a few things that hasn't been.....Nevermind. Embarrassed

Same here, and one of the groups was a couple of UCD sorority  girls collecting  cans for the local food bank.  They didn't even want any candy. I think I can trust myself with the left over candy since it's a lot of tootsie rolls.  I like them, but I don't consider them *real* chocolate. Now if they were mini candy bars I'd be in a world of sh*t as they'd all be gone before the sun goes down. The time change didn't affect Max at all.  He rolled off the bed when I came out of the shower. For some reason I woke up really early thinking it was Monday and that I'd forgotton to put the garbage cans out. Fortunately I opted to go back to sleep instead of running outside and dragging them to the curb. They're huge cans, so they'd easily hold two weeks worth. The trick or treaters must have been unusually well behaved last night.  I didn't see one smashed pumpkin on our walk this morning.

    Re: Mc rest day

We had a fair few kids so not too much candy left, woohoo! - Joyce I LOVE tootsie rolls so I would be in trouble at your house LOL. The funniest was this little girl who asked me if she could have my slugs.  I'm like is this a joke?  So I said what slugs?  The ones on your flowers, which she duly pointed out to me.  Of course I 'kindly' said sure kid have them all...................she was so happy she forgot to get candy.  Too busy discussing how cute the slugs were.  Now I was a weird nature freak kid but this seems extra weird.

Speaking of slugs... has anyone seen the sun???

Bugsy slept in this morning - a result of the stress of having to be 'trapped' in a 12x14 room all to himself Confused  How stressful = not.  He is being better about it today.

DH has been working on the eulogy and music for his mom's funeral all last night and today, so the mood is somber.

I made a beef stew for dinner and it smells real good so far................

Giants having another ugly week but yea for the Yankees Big Smile

Wow Jackie - it sounds like you had a very nice Halloween. Sleeping with feathers always makes me hungry in the morning too ;).

No time change here on the island but there'll only be a 2 hr differencw when we fly home tomorrow. We're both missing the dogs very much and our bed is way nicer than the one here, so we're ready to be home now.

We went out to dinner with some friends last night. We went to a restaurant that has an absolutely amazing view of the ocean and were there when the sun was setting. It was breathtaking and I'm hoping that some of the pictures our friends took turned out good.

Woke up way too early this morning but we were at the gym before the crowds arrived. I'm already dreaming of a long nap though.
