My sympathies Alidenes ... this disease is just so incredibly difficult and it claims so many really really good dogs.

Lost my little Border Collie Cybil one week today to this disease she was only 3yrs old,we tried everything her heart gave in at the end.

Kate-Willow lost all the fur on her sides(like along her ribs)right down to the skin. It grew back, now it's falling out again and also her legs the fur is markedly thinner and patchier.

Thank you, Callie and sl2crmeg! It made sense to me that her fur would change (just like people's hair changes with chemo), but I just didn't remember reading anything. Pirate did lose his big tan spots! I think we must be entering the fuzzy stage.

Our next blood work is Saturday. Fingers crossed!

Pirate lost a lot of his coloring - he used to be distinctly white and tan. Now he's a lot less tan! He also went through a FUZZY stage. I will post pics so we can compare...

has anyone noticed changes in your pup's fur after being on all these IMHA drugs? Frisby's undercoat is growing in well, but it is getting tangled in a really different way. I can't tell if the texture all of a sudden changed and it's getting all tangled with "older" fur or what. It's not the "usual" type of tangles that she gets. I think I've been brushing her about the same as usual, but maybe not. Just wondered if anyone has noticed anything.

Absolutely -- even the color of Billy's changed. Not nearly as soft and more dry and brittle. Skin AND coat -- but my holistic vet said coat changes are always going to accompany these drugs.

Glad to hear all went well and that the lump was nothing that needed to be worried about. Tinker, I hope your ear infection heals quickly! And, thanks for the info about Brutus. I hope things are on a good track there.

I tried to post about 8:30 e.s.t. and my internet just wouldn't cooperate. Sorry!!

Yes, he's doing *very* well. I told Dr. B if there was even the remotest chance "it" (the lump) might be funky to send it in. But nope -- he told me he tossed it because it was absolutely **positively** just 'fatty tissue' and he was positive of it.

Teeth were fine. Very very minimal anesthesia. Dr. B sorta "specializes" in bull-dogs and bracheocephalic breeds so anesthesia is a biggie to him. Thank heavens.

Tinker's the one with the ear infection. I knew the other stuff he'd given me just wasn't doing enough so she went back and Ms. Tinkerbell has a bacterial infection so she's on a bigger guns antibiotic drop. I've been using Natural Balance kibble (freebie samples *grin*) as 'treats' for them and as long as she gets "One for the left ear and one for the right ear" she's fine!! (*sniffing for my spoiled rotten dogs*)

Part of what I lost was an encouragement for folks to lift up a dog named Brutus. Eventually I hope Amanda (Bevolasvegas) will post. She's one of those awesome dog moms and she's very active in the rest of the Dog.com messageboard. She's got a relatively new dog she rescued (literally took him off the street) - a boxer named Brutus. He suddenly got weak last night and they rushed him to the e-vet. IMHA. *sigh*

He's at a hospital in Houston. She's one of those incredible folks connected with really awesome vets. She uses TCVM and homotoxicology on Bevo (who is a Dobie with Wobbler's)

Brutus crashed really fast -- so keep him lifted up if you can with good thots & prayers. It can be really tough when a dog initially crashes as fast as he did to get them stable. I'm just so sorry she's joining the 'crowd'. *sigh*
