Nothing to worry about. My dog, Shadow can run well over 30 mph and he perfected the zoomie before he perfected cornering. It used to be that he would get one paw planted and the rest of him spun and slid around (the Batman turn) until he was pointed in a new direction. I used to fear that he would rip a dew claw. But he has since learned to corner.

I'll have to try and get a video of Athena's zoomies she is a riot with those LOooong leg's. :)

Teddi does "zoomies" (or I should say did). In our house we call it the Teddianapolis 500! I hope when she is fully healed we get to enjoy them again. She really makes us laugh. Even my other dogs just stop and watch her go.

My girl Belle has had 2 ideopathic epileptic seizures. I hope she never has another one, they are scary to watch. My sympathies if you have had to experience these.

I LOVE ZOOMIES!!! Otto still occasionally gets them, but Oliver never ever has :( I wish he would because it's soooooo funny to see them run full speed flinging their legs out. Silly chizillas.

I used to have a whippet named Kudos, he could really roll! We'd go horseback riding and he would rip around us as hard as he could! Brought us so much joy! One of the best dog's I have ever had! Kale is likely top dog,with Kudos... awww they're a dead heat!

No kidding! Maven's just starting to develop the puppy zooms and get good at it... zips around the yard like a fool. tries to jump over stuff and get high centered... good times!

I also love them, but they can be hazordous if said puppy is in the 80+ lb category!

best guess is its the ZOOMIES - my boy does them several times a day - extreme joy seems to be the trigger! And an overload of energy

The zoomies is very normal and I doubt it has anything to do with the epilepsy.

The term "idiopathic" means "unknown cause". Have you considered diet as a "cause" of the seizures? See this post:

That's called the zoomies or the doggy-500. Totally normal doggy behavior - especially for young dogs.

this is the second time i've noticed charlee running really, really fast, oblivious to everyone and everything around him. all of my dogs at one time or another have done what i call the "crazy-puppy-run." however, they can be distracted from it. charlee just keeps going. it starts out as if he were stung by a bee. he jumps up and starts running. it lasts for maybe two runs around my house, then he will come back to where he started as if nothing happened. has anyone else seen anything like this? i'm hoping that it's only charlee's own interpretation of the "crazy-puppy-run!" he was reccently diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy, so i could be overreacting.
