I Still Love and Miss You...

To my sweet heart dog of a lifetime...

Dancer, I can't believe it's three years that you have been gone.  But, now I know why you left - it was to get things ready in the spirit land so you could continue your job of taking care of Daddy Mike, who loved you here as much as I did.  You will always be our wonder dog until we are all reunited.   Love you, Miss Dance.

Been thinking about Dancer and Foxy since I saw Denise's new "herder" -- so Dancer's been on MY heart too.  Must be you and I are supposed to try to stay out of trouble or something??? *smile*

I did stay out of trouble - sent my "knew I couldn't have him" favorite ACD to a good home in Rhode Island...

You can appreciate this - Dancer crossed over on the 4th of October, and Sequoyah's birthday is the 5th.  I always smile when I think that Dancer must have picked the pup for me for that reason, so that each year I could only stay really sad for a day before I had to celebrate something else...

{{{Hugs}}}  I do believe this is true.   The day we helped Shadow over the bridge was the same day that Rocky was found in a freezing snow storm and was rescued.  When I saw him on Petfinder 2 weeks later and couldnt get him off my mind, there was something drawing me to him.   I have always felt that Shadow sent him to me.  It wasnt until the day we picked him up that I heard the story of how and when he was found.  I like you have a day that is sad but reminds me of how happy my devoted Rocky makes me feel.

Re: I Still Love and Miss You...

I'm so glad we have this place to remember our beloved pets. How much are our lives enriched by these gracious and wonderful creatures? I don't know how to measure that and it probably can't be measured, and just as well that it is so. Some things defy quantification and that is the way it ought to be. I still think of my cat, Misty, from time to time. And I see the future when it will be time to release Shadow, then Jade. And that makes the time I have with them now as precious as it can be. Lots of love to Dancer and I know, to a certainty within myself, that she is having a grand ole time that will be that much better when, so many decades from now, you will be at the Bridge with her. And I know you can see her, even now. Not very scientific of me. Oh well, I put socks on, one at a time, as well.

I believe that this is absolutely true!

I lost my aussie on June 4, 2003.  Bevo was born on the same day.  Every year it's a happy & sad day.  I'm sad that I lost Sandee that day, but I am so happy that Bev was born.

Re: I Still Love and Miss You...

I think it is human nature to assign meaning and relevance to events in our lives - even if there is none. When I found Buddy on Petfinders, I felt a little guilty even considering a new dog after having lost Kobi. When I read his history however, I noticed he had entered the shelter the same day my sweet Kobi left us. I took it as a sign that we were destined for each other.
