    Has anyone used this video?

I was looking into buying the "Really Reliable Recalls" video by Leslie Nelson. Has anyone used this video? I have a malamute puppy (almost 9 months) who isn't a big fan of recalls, so I wanted to get a good method down to help with his training. Let me know what you thought about it, if you have used it! Thanks!

I personally have not, however, it is one that one of our trainers on the forum HIGHLY recommends.

Yes, I have it, and it is great! I have a Lapphund, which is a very toned down version of a Mal or Sibe. Most Lapphund owners do not have dogs with a good recall as they just have the spitz tendency to first see what's over the hill in case it's really fun. Kivi has a great recall, though. He will break off from doing his favourite things in the world to come when we use that Emergecy Recall. There is nothing more satisfying than your dog whirling and galloping straight to you with a look of pure joy on his face when you call him.

It took a good 12 months to get the recall that good, but it was so worth it. We made a few mistakes along the way. It's hard to predict when your dog is definitely going to come to the recall when you are still training it.

The RRR dvd has a section specifically for northern breeds and sighthounds. Should be great for you. Smile

Mourning Penny. We were going to be young together forever, but I'm glad we grew up together instead.

That would be me, and I do recommend it.  I combined Leslie's stuff with some techniques from one of my mentors, and a bit from McConnell to make up my Rocket Recall class.  I highly recommend the DVD over the little booklet.
