    loose stool from antibiotics?

My dog is once again suffering from an overabundance of chlostria.  It's probably brought on by the stress of thunderstorms.  She is on 2 antibiotics and her stool is very soft.  Once she is done with the antibiotics I'll have her on probiotics.  Do you think the soft stool is from the medicine?  The Vet says no.  She is on amoxicillin and sulfasalazine.  As a side effect from the soft stool she now has trouble with the anal glands.  Does anyone know how to harden up the stool?

You can give a probiotic now if you want.  Just give it at least two hours "off" from the antibiotic.  NOW brand has GR-8-Dopholus which is really good.  Yogurt even works great.  (Billy will take it greedily right off a spoon ANY time it's offered.)

You can give dogs Pepto Bismol -- it's not something I give *often* but in a situation like this sometimes you just gotta.  Generally I give half the adult dose (I even give little Kee half a caplet a couple of times a day when I **gotta**).  Just again -- don't give it with the other meds -- if you do meds at supper, give the Pepto at bedtime
