    Let Vick play?

I don't think so!! Vote never! (This is just a Fox Sports poll, but still.)

I may take a beating for this but I don't have an issue with Vick playing in the NFL again.  What he did was wrong, & horrible, but he has paid his debt to society, & I feel that he should be given a second chance, just as I believe that everyone is entitled to a second chance.  I would have issue with him going out & getting a job as an animal control officer, but going back to his past career, not so much.

    Re: Let Vick play?

Never is right. How many dog's both fighting and bait have lost their lives because of him. It seems appropriate that he not earn millions and he looses the only thing he's ever done well... play ball.

OOOOh he served 23 months of jail and house arrest. Big deal. How many pits suffer because of the acts of people like this. IMO, an eye for and eye.

I am torn.  Personally I hate the man - he is scum.  However, there are players in the NFL right now that have killed humans before without all this outrage...so why would this be different?

While I think his sentence was to light for the crime, he did pay his debt under the terms set by the goverment and the law.

If he wants to play fine, I personally do not see any team taking the chance, he would be to much of a liability.

I was never a Vick fan to begin with. I hate what he did. But....he did pay his debt to society. He is in financial debt as it is, I believe most of his houses and cars were auctioned off. I don't know what team will take him, but, it's going to be an already sucky team despirate for a QB. His career is ruined- nobody will look at him the same. He's never going to be a hall of famer. I say let him play if he can be picked up by a team. It's the NFL- not a doggie daycare. People have done worse and still gotten jobs (sex offenders, murderers, etc).

Amanda I agree. I am sure he owes restitution....how is he going to earn the money to pay it back? I don't care for him but as mentioned...people who have taken human life play in the NFL every season....and he at least was found guilty and DID TIME. The NFL will be on him like white on rice anyhow if he so much as farts in the direction of a dog.

Yeah, I agree. His reputation was absolutely destroyed - "Vick" is now synonymous with "jerk who kills dogs" - and I seriously doubt anything he could do from here on out would change that.

Sure, let him play, but only if what he earns goes to rescue and rehab animals like the ones he so badly abused.....

This was my thought too.  Fat chance but it would be sweet.

Pro sports is so out of control with the concept that if a person has a physical talent, they can make insane amounts of money and basically break any law with little concern.  It has really turned me off to much of pro sports.  Although I do admit to being a big Spurs fans but we are considered the team that's "too nice".  Crazy world we live in.  As long as we idolize people for the wrong reasons, we'll see criminals treated as "heroes" because they can run fast or throw a ball and bemoan the fact that our children emulate the bad behavior.

No doubt Vick won't be geting any dogs but people who abuse animals often abuse people.  But that's not any reason to stop the NFL from hiring people as we know.

yep...chances are I you and everyone here has worked with someone who has abused a dog...child....or a family member, knowingly or more likely...unknowingly. That's just life...they are not all in jail, they are not all caught...and they are not all unemployed if they DID get caught, and do time...such is life. You can always hope that people who do horrible things just wander off into the desert and die...but often...they just kind of hang around, continuing to live. Wink

It's not really worth any of my spleen to worry about what Vick does...many monsters in this world...and if I stopped to think of them all I would never let my children leave my home...lol. So, I just deal with what actually impacts us here in my little corner of things and read about the rest when I feel strong enough to deal lol.

Heck, I'd never leave home myself if I let the fact that our world is full of scary, nasty people stop me.  lol  Like some country song says "God is great, beer is good and people are crazy"

I agree.  Most professional sports leagues in this country have less than a thread of credibilty anyway so it really makes no difference to me.
