Why is he losing his fur?

Finn's fur is really thinning out and you can see his darker colored skin underneath his yellow/white fur.  It looks strange.  I don't know if maybe he is losing his puppy coat for an adult coat (if that actually happens).  I also thought it could be allergies.

His stools are also fairly loose, better than before, but not great and he has horrendous gas.  I am guessing it is the food.  I bought a bag of BB today and I'm going to start to switch him from TOTW tonight.

Any thoughts on what is going on here. We have a vet appt. for Tuesday, but I want to have to ideas in my head before we go.

    Thanks

Where specifically is the coat thinning?  How much scratching is he doing?  How old is he now?

It doesn't seem to be thinning on his back.  His fur is thinning around his shoulder area and sort of along his side.  I am also noticing it on his chest and neck.  He is approximately 4 and a half months now, maybe closing in on five months soon.

Oh and I haven't noticed any scratching.

You can see some of the thinning fur here.  The spots where it looks darker is where it's thinning.

His belly was always pretty bare, so that is normal.

He may just be blowing his coat -- is he shedding abnormally?  scratching?

When I first got him I didn't notice any shedding, but I have noticed more shedding recently.  I really haven't seen any scratching.

Their coats DO change -- and he may just be shedding to gain a thicker undercoat.  But if he's not scratching and if there isn't a ton of dandruff then it's probably not a big deal -- watch it tho.

Re: Why is he losing his fur?

Thanks Callie.  That is what I was thinking was happening, but it seems so drastic.  I guess that could be because his coat wasn't very thick to begin with anyway.  I'll mention it to the vet tomorrow anyway and see what she says.
