    Anyone who has worked at petsmart/petco as a groomer?

    Kind of long story so bear with me! Ok, so I was walking through Petsmart with Maisie and one of the groomers came up to me and noticed her crazy (but of course, awesome Big Smile) dye job and asked me who dyed her and who grooms her and I told him that I did. I thought it was kind of sloppy, but I guess he thought it was pretty good because he couldn't help but let her give him kisses lol. Welllll...

    ....yesterday we came in again (with a fourth of July mohawk of course Stick out tongue) ....

    ....and we saw the same groomer and he said he talked to his manager and she wanted him to ask me if I'd be interested in being a groomer and to come in and talk to her next time she's there! I was soooooooo shocked because not only did I learn how to groom and dye her over the internet, I'm only 16.

    Now I know I'll need training and stuff and probably start out as a bather/brusher, but I wanted to know more about being a groomer there because I can't go in until next week because I'm going out of town.

    So anyone who has worked there;

    About how much money do you think I will make?

    Can the hours be flexible? (I'm very involved in 4 different school groups and honors classes so even a part-time job is iffy.)

    Did/do you like working there?

    I'm definitely thinking about this as a big possibly for college money and maybe if I get into it, a career, because I really love grooming my own dog and making her pretty Smile. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

     IME, when they train you, you have to sign a contract. Then, you're stuck. You have to work for them for the designated number of years, or you owe them thousands of dollars.

    The hours can be flexible, depending on who the manager is. The manager changes, every few months, because retail stores are fluid like that.  The money was good, the benefits were GREAT, but I couldn't do it, with the folks in charge, BOTH times I left the chain store I worked at.

    No wonder the groomers you see as you walk by look so unhappy. :(
