Lisa -- Becca and I aren't laughing at you, but the point is ... "deterrents" can have a funny way of becoming attractive at all the wrong times.

Callie and Becca, I too am laughing.  Your dogs appreciated the condiment.  Mine curled her nose up in the air and stayed away.  Big Smile

btw....putting poop in places where I don't want them to dig works great here!  Wink

Bitter Yuck may work better than bitter apple, but be warned that if you get that stuff on your fingers, it is nasty. Even two weeks later, after I sprayed something, I touched it, and touched my mouth later, it was awful.

Luke also likes those hard nylabones. Also, if Luke really loves toys, so at least with him, if he goes to do something I don't like, I can always entice him with the toy, at least for a little bit. Sometimes, I have to keep playing with the toy with him, others he will take for himself to play with so I can actually do something. Under supervision, I do give him rawhide chips. I wouldn't do that though if you have a hard time being able to take things from her, I would not suggest this option. He's never choked, but I realize he absolutely could, so he doesn't get to just have these and run around with them. They stay in my room, and he lays near me, or in his crate.

Instead of the crate when I am home, I use the expen for Finn when I can't watch him.  I have a tarp down underneath it, just in case, a blanket to lay on, multiple toys to chew, and since it is a short expen because I used it for Benny, I put some fencing (plastic like fencing) on it as a roof secured with zip ties.  He therefor has more space and can occupy himself when I am busy.

Bitter Apple doesn't work because it dries too quickly.  I found some stuff online called Bitter Lime.  It is more like vasoline.  It stays on the wood.  So if you do not mind the greasy goop, it is clear by the way, then google it and order some.  I had it in case but I got lucky that Dublin wasn't a chewer.  They recommend it for chair legs etc.   Hope that helps you.   I just did yahoo search and it is called bitter lime furniture deterent.  Just wanted you to know because it does come in a spray as well which isn't what I would want for a window sill.
