HELP! Lost Dog (Rhodesian Ridgeback) Sacramento

My 6 year old male (newly neutered) rhodesian ridgeback is missing and I am desperate for help in finding him.  We only had him less than two days before he accidentally ran out of the house while I was putting my son on the bus.  I chased him (yes, now I know chasing was a mistake) into a resdiential area. He was spotted at a nearby dog park (Howe Ave. and Cottage Ave.) 95825 but no sightings since Friday.  The park has lots of trees and a stream, and it is close to 100, so my prayer is that he is still near the water and shade there.

We have posted about 50 color fliers in a two mile radius, visited all three shelters in the area, contacted vets, posted on Craigslist, paid for an ad in the Sacramento Bee (which doesn't start running until TUesday).  We continue to post more fliers.

Echo is 75 pounds, reddish brown, with a ridge. He has a red nylon collar on with our contact info (and our vet's).  He is not microchipped but is tatooed on his thigh w/AKC #.

I would appreciate any help or advice that people could give us to get Echo home.

    Thank you

Agnes - I'm sorry that you've lost Echo but it does sound like you've done all the right things and since he has a collar with ID, hopefully that's enough info to bring him home if he's found. I'm fairly local to you but not sure there's much I could do to assist you. I'm don't know if it'd be different than Sac Bee but they have an online section called SacPaws that you might want to check and see if you can post something there. I know you must be worried sick and I hope he's found soon.

Today the park he was spotted at is quiet so my hubby will scour it to see if he is still there and will come out.  We have new fliers w/more info we will continue to post.  Thanks for prayers, positive thoughts, etc.

Echo was found a week ago by the side of a freeway with a broken leg.  He had surgery and just came home today.  THANK YOU to all who prayed and sent good thoughts. I will post a request for advice re convelescing a dog and also nutrition in other areas of dog.com.

Re: HELP! Lost Dog (Rhodesian Ridgeback) Sacramento

Thank you.  There is little that is as horrifying as having a dog lost for 5 days, 3 of which had heat near or above 100 degrees) then getting a call in the middle of the night that your dog is at the side of the freeway and not moving.  That Good Samaritan saved his life, as did the ER vet who raised his temperature (it was 94 degrees on admission). The surgeons saved his leg.  Our credit cards are maxed out, but he is so happy to see us and the look in his eyes makes it all worth it.  Thank you.
