...you went to over 100 Grateful Dead shows before Jerry died, and attended his memorial in Golden Gate park. You know all of their song lyrics by heart and can identify almost every song  they played within the first couple of notes. You kept set lists of their concerts. You still wear your  tie-died tee shirts and you like to listen to the Sirius Satellite Radio Grateful Dead Channel. You have friends that are fondly referred to as "acid casualties".

How about shoes should always be optional. (summer-time I get nice caluses on my feet because I go barefoot so much.)

My biggest contribution to this thread:

You know you're a hippie when you went to Burning Man! (especially the year they went green but ended up using twice as much fuel. Ironic, huh?) (www.burningman.com) it's basically a GIANT (think more than 40,000 people) festival in the middle of the nevada desert where you are free to be yourself. Clothes are also optional... And there is lots of fire!

I am a yogi (practice Yoga, pilates, and Tai Chi) and a Taoist as well.

Burning Mansounds great!  I love yoga as well...I would be in a terrible spot with my back issues if it were not for yoga.

I have been known to walk naked outside.  Oh wait, that's for the Admissions thread.  Oops, sorry.  LOL  Embarrassed

Could apply here too.... Big Smile

I knew I was still a hippy when I got all sniffly watching Pete Seeger singing This Land Is My Land at that Pre-Inaugural Concert thingie broadcast on HBO last night. All in all, that concert was just about the weirdest combination of performers I can imagine, but I'll bet it was fun to be in that crowd even in the cold. And Pete Seeger! And he sang ALL the verses of This Land, not just the 4-H Camp-Marshmallow-Roast-Sing-Along approved verses. Oh Hippy Days are here again!

I'm "crunchy" - that's different from being a hippie.  I come from San Francisco and technically you can't be a real hippie unless you lived in the Haight-Ashbury.  My dad is a hippie, but not me.  I was born in 1969, much too late.

I'm not anti-war.  I'm not counter-culture.  I'm not anti-meat-eating.  My stand is in support of sustainable farming practices.   I enjoy using holistic health practices and following a simple lifestyle for my whole family.  Sometimes my crunchy viewpoints make me look a bit hippy-ish, and I enjoy shopping at hippy stores (a hilarious irony if you think about it).
