My daughter ended up with a new puppy on Christmas Eve! We think he's a Boxer/Great Dane cross. The people she got him from thought he was a pure-bred Boxer when they first got him. They couldn't keep him so they sold him to another couple. The couple brought him to their vet and he said that there was no way the dog was a purebred Boxer - looked like a 'pit cross' to him and that they should 'get rid of it'. So they brought him back and got their money back. Long story short, my daughter ended up with the pup who is approximately 13 weeks old, pretty thin, obviously wormy, and sweet as the day is long. He truly is adorable. Today we weighed him and went to the vet to get wormer.
We're hoping she can keep him. They already have two dogs: a 9 year old boxer we got from the pound for my daughter several years ago, and a 4 year old pug cross. They are only supposed to have 2 dogs. So, there could be a problem. The township where they live is adament that you can only have 2.
There are people who have more than that but they end up getting fined $200 each year. My daughter doesn't care - she says she'll pay the $200. It's a shame, really. All her dogs are inside dogs; they have a fenced in area to run in and never get out. She is able to afford their care. She takes very good care of them, trains them to have manners, makes sure they get exercise, vaccinates according to the town requirements, and they really bother absolutely no one. And most of all, she and her husband and son lavish their dogs with love. They are truly part of the family. Luckily their yard is fairly private, although on the side where the fenced in area is, there is a neighbor who is on the town board!
Doesn't that just figure?? So they are taking the dog out the other door to potty and run around. She'll bring him to my place to run around with my dogs in the fenced in area when it gets warmer out. I know there are ordinances for very good reasons, and there are people who are very irresponsible about their pets. It's just a shame that it affects people who really take good care of their animals. So we shall see what happens...
Dogs are proof...God not only loves us and wants us to be happy, but He also has a great sense of humor and likes to hear us laugh!!!
