Re: What does your dog's diet look like?

All my dogs get alternating days between commercial dog food and homecooked.

Kasia (7 month old Catahoula mix) gets Solid Gold Hundchen Flocken Puppy, because I don't feel comfortable giving her a high protein, grain free food like EVO yet, even though she is a mid size dog. Once she reaches about a year of age, I'll switch her.

Finn (4 year old Aussie/Collie/Shepherd/heinz 57) and Harlow (2 year old ACD) get Innova EVO Red Meat.

Dublin (6 year old Lhasa Apso) has a little bit of a sensitive stomach and EVO RM makes him throw up (too rich perhaps??), so he gets TOTW Salmon instead.

Their homecooked days diet can include: pork or beef neck meat, spinach, swiss chard, potatoes, pumpkin, squash, green beans, eggs (with shell), canned fish, chicken liver, Solid Gold's bone meal, and Wellness "WellFlex." Whatever I have on hand.

The dogs also get a raw marrow bone once a week.

The cats, Bentley and Quigley, get Nutro canned or raw chicken necks.

Re: What does your dog's diet look like?

I've been rotating the adults (ages 18 mos - 8yrs) with either Purina ONE L&R or Science Diet Active Adult ... I like the SD a little better, but my budget doesn't always allow for me to feed it on a regular basis, lol. They also get some raw in their diet, mainly fatty beef scraps from the butcher, ground chuck, lamb ribs, beef liver, chicken hearts, chicken quarters, and very seldom, cooked whiting fish. If they get raw for more than a day or two in a row, I'll ad in some raw soaked oats. I feed raw egg yolks and yogurt 1-2x weekly no matter what they're eating. Normally though, they don't have much raw - they can go for a few weeks without it and then several days on all raw. Depends entirely on what meats I can get on sale - nothing on sale, then no raw :(

My pups were on Wellness puppy for several months and were doing quite well. Just switched them back to regular Puppy Chow last week as the last bag of Wellness was giving me too many problems. Don't know if we just got a bad batch or if the formula was changed but too much soft, FOUL smelling poop and they seemed to have stunted growth ... so I couldn't take a chance on buying another bag, unfortunately. The pups get their Puppy Chow and very seldom a very bony RMB like a chicken back, and also the weekly egg yolks, but nothing else.

Was also giving them all a dose of flax seed oil in the bad weather we were having last week, but normally don't give coat conditioners on a regular basis ... if it gets cold again, I'll start up with the flax.

We like EaglePack Superpremium natural for ours. Sometimes I switch off just because I will be swayed by someone's dog who looks so good and is eating "such and such" but we always come back to EaglePack again

Brazil nuts! LOL That's great! I'm sure they're a source of some good nutrient. It just struck me funny....

They're a source of selenium; she gets 3 and a half kernels a week, finely grated. Sabine designed the diet and she believes in using as many fresh food sources as possible.

That's really cool! I probably remember that from somewhere. Selenium is one of the nutrients that's just about gone from the soil in our area, so I supplement it.

Re: What does your dog's diet look like?

Zack eats Nature's Variety raw.  We rotate through all the different meat sources.

With Zoe I rotate through different kibbles supplemented with Grizzly salmon oil.  Right now she is eating Solid Gold Just a Wee Bit and other times it's Nature's Variety Prairie, sometimes Wellness Core but she doesn't like the Core as much as the others.  She also gets a raw chicken thigh about twice a week.   I would switch her over to all raw because she has horrible teeth and I know it would help, but she acts like she is starving 24/7 on  all raw.

Zoe - 3 year old chocolate and tan miniature dachshund

Zack - 1 year old toy manchester terrier

Ally - 10 year old black and white domestic shorthair cat

Re: What does your dog's diet look like?

My four are currently on Timerwolf grain free Ocean formula kibble, in the morning I mix in yogurt, eggs or cottage cheese. In the evening, they get cooked chicken, chicken liver, lamb or turkey mixed in with their kibble, as well as a rotation of green beans, peas, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, and they get a pump of iceland pure salmon oil daily. I also add in a scoop of natural garlic granuals to either am or pm feeding. I supplement with NuPro 4 times a week and give them fresh baby spinach 2 times a week. I cook all their meat in organic pure coconut oil. **yikes I feed my dogs way better than I feed myself :O
