Someone having an antique gun collection is a bit different than someone owning assault rifles, stockpiling guns because they don't recognize the US government and are planning a "takeover" ie: the Michigan Militia, those lovely folks responsible for the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City.
My brother in law owns guns, even has a carry permit and is a card carrying member of the NRA. He goes to a shooting range often. He hunts, without any luck most years, and whether I like him and his attitudes in general, I don't see the typical NRA member as like him. Nor do I see the typical NRA member as the fellow conveyed in that commercial last night. My Dad always had guns, always hunted, taught us girls to hunt.
In many ways I see gun control as having a negative affect on law abiding citizens, with criminals finding guns regardless. But, hey. NO ONE needs an assault rifle. NO ONE needs to own an automatic weapon. Law abiding or otherwise.
If the NRA chooses to represent their membership in the manner they did last night, they are, in my opinion, doing more harm than good. And, I'm still insulted that they see to think, by placement of the ad in the playoffs, that baseball fans are all LIKE the fellow they protrayed.
And, I knew you were mostly just picking.....THEY are the ones who represented their members in such a manner, and they are the ones who picked that particular placement.
The whole thing just rubbed me the wrong way......
