if the people of alaska are unhappy about current hunting policies, they seriously need to contact their senator and/or representative to get some action.

If the people of Alaska think arial hunting and all that barbaric redneck crap is cool, that's their buisness. The real question is .....How high of a priority are the environment and wildlife to the average American voter? To me they are huge issues. As a feminist I would love to see a woman in the White House, but not THAT woman. She goes against nearly everything I believe in.

But where do we as a country draw the line?  If people in Oklahoma or Tennessee think that fighting pit bulls is cool, do we just say, "Well, that's their business"? Alaska is just another state of the US.

That video literally made me sick. But thanks for alerting everyone, SD.

As a non American I am curious as to when the real debate on the real issues kicks in? There is certainly a lot more interest in the personal lives of politicians in the US, than in Canada. It seems we will be voting in October and I can't even tell you the name of the Prime Minister's wife, but I can certainly tell you what each parties platform on the environment, the war and economic is. Sometimes I wish our politics were more 'sexy'. LOL!

Haven't you heard?  McCain's manager has said this election isn't about the issues.  I guess they hope they can ignore the important stuff.

My understanding is that she goes after wolves with such a vengence because they prey on caribou ... which is what she likes to hunt. Doesn't seem very sportsman like to me. Sad

I think that's been the "justification" for killing wolves for a long time.  They kill off the creatures humans want to kill for sport, therefore they have to go.  Alternately, they're killed because humans hunt their prey for sport and they're forced, out of sheer starvation, to try to go for their cattle.

I often think human beings are not very bright. Sad

I need to find a better way to express my sarcasm,I guess what I am trying to say is,I don't like what they are doing in Alaska but I can't do much about it if the people there think it's acceptable. If Sarah Palin becomes VP or worse yet POS she will have a greater sword with which to plunder the nation's wildlife and natural resources. As for the dog fighting comment.....the law does not reguard pets, livestock and wildlife the same. Some may not like that, but it's a fact.

I think you mean POTUS, not POS, although perhaps it's just a Freudian slip? LOL

And yes, that's a scary proposition, indeed.

The latest article about her on the Comcast home page says that she attended 5 different colleges in 6 years.  Not that that's against the law or anything ... but really ... do you know anyone who transferred schools that often?  Me thinks perhaps there's a story there, if they can find any profs who remember her.

Re: Say No to Sarah - Caution, Very Graphic Video

Ok, I love my dogs, very much.  I'm sure everyone posting here does, and this loving & caring naturally extends to other animals.

Barack Obama was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 1996, To the US Senate in 2004.  He lives in Hyde Park, an affluent area in Chicago.  A mile west or south of his residence is for all practical purposes a war zone, Chicago is running at a pace to break the record for murders in one year.  What has he done about this in all these years?  Apparently nothing.

While I do care about the welfare of all animals, and shooting wild animals from an airplane for no good reason is bad, shooting people from a moving car is worse.  For all the brilliantly stated ideas this man comes up with, I see no action, not for years.  I have a hard time getting too worked up about animals when my family & myself are at risk due to the "leadership" in this area.

Perhaps because I live & work with this situation every day my view is a little slanted.  Perhaps these folks have a different way of sorting things out than most members here are accustomed to.  Here’s a link to a nice article on how many of these folks think; http://www.philly.com/dailynews/opinion/20080902_Fatimah_Ali__We_need_Obama__not_4_more_years_of_George_Bush.html

“If McCain wins, look for a full-fledged race and class war, fueled by a deflated and depressed country, soaring crime, homelessness - and hopelessness!”

Full fledged race & class war, great.  So I should be threatened into voting for someone?  No.  I have heard more than a few “disadvantaged persons” talk about all the free stuff they will get on election day.  Around here, a sports team wins a championship, they loot, they lose a championship, they loot.  A man of color, winning or losing the election for POTUS is huge, way beyond a basketball team.

This is how third world countries operate, not the USA I grew up in.  I’m staying home, with the doors locked on election day, and perhaps for some time afterwards.

      Flame away.

Her placement on the ticket has sealed the deal for me.

I think a great many Americans feel exactly the same... the question is how many of them are registered voters who will actually go out in November...

In CA the polls show that record numbers of younger people (18 to 25), Hispanics and Blacks have registered to vote and that might be indicative of what's going on in the rest of the country.  I'm hoping that anybody that actually bothered to register will also vote. This election might have the biggest voter turnout in years.

Are you blaming  the crime in Chicago on Obama? DO you really think one person could "fix" a city the size of Chicago? Because I'll bet if you talked to the people he helped in the neighborhoods of Chicago, to get jobs and home improvements and a place to live,  they might have a different opinion. And he was a community organizer when he was 23. That's what Palin attacked last night.

Whoever said that is trying to scare you. Not to mention a racist thing to say. It's not true. You should vote for who you want to vote for.

That's just fear mongering and not okay from either side, but neither is above using it when it suits them.  This quote was from a commentator, not the candidate himself.  As far as Chicago goes, I'm not sure why you'd look at a state Senator and not the mayor or the police chief for answers.  Heck, why not Oprah?  She's based in that city and has more influence on people than almost anyone.  Where's the Oprah effect?  FWIW, figures don't lie, liars figure and anyone with an agenda could take crime stats and twist them to tell their story.  Homicide rates in Chicago have gone from  851/100,000 in 1990 to 442/100,000 in 2007.  Should Obama trumpet single-handed responsibility for those numbers?  Cutting homicides in half seems pretty impressive to me.  But is he anymore responsible for the decline than any number of other leaders in that area?  I don't think so.
