  So the places you meet dog people ! Reply Contact I had to go to the ENT today to have a scope shoved up my nose....     The Doctor and I were not exactly hitting it off...his art was trite , magazines boring and I was left alone for almost an hour while waiting for my nose to get truly numb.....hmmm not promising... Then he wandered in in a tropical print shirt... We begin talking and he mentions my old pain mgmt Doc a  real jerk....says  they went to school together ..... I was almost out of there but I saw the Skull ring he was wearing  well okay then not what I had expected I thought I can talk to him... the RN comes in with the scope and she is wearing zebra print crocs and has leather wrist band and skull jewelry too   ... Cool , they are "different" so I stayed for the proceadure ... He tells me there is a cancerous cyst  yippee and we will be getting it cut out hopefully before I leave for the Nationals.  He is typing his reccomendations and telling me the risks, I am feeling relaxed talking with him even though surgery was not what I wanted, then I told him lets get it done asap , just make sure you don't make me look funny since I have to go into the over 50 ring this year and honestly I do not want to look like a goof...bad enough this chubby redhead is supposed to wear an African Dress !!  He looked at me and asked why on Earth would you wear that??  well I reply we raise and breed an African breed of dog, What KIND? he asks now staring at me as if I am jerking his chain.... Ridgebacks , I said ..he grins ... He is on the last of his 3 RRS all of who lived over 10 years.   Before leaving the RN with the eclectic taste mentions she is his wife, He wears the Skull ring because she is hung up on Johnny Depp and He thinks if he weaars the ring he looks like him.... shaaa a real twin.  Anywho I mention to her as she is checking me our that I have a photo of an RR pup dressed as a Pirate  I seem to have a new BFF ....   Bonita of Bwana Bonita of Bwana AKC Rhodesian Ridgebacks Champions, Therapy Dogs and Awesome Companions To learn more about Rhodesian Ridgebacks on a Positive and Ethical Site visit us at , http://www.bwanakennel.com/

Reply Contact Well, you certainly sound upbeat for a woman who's just been told she has a cancerous cyst in her face!!!  I'll be keeping you in my thoughts for a complication-free surgery and a speedy recovery.  It's good when you have good rapport with your doctor, it certainly makes an unpleasant experience a little easier to take.  Good thoughts.

Reply Contact Bonita, hope you are doing OK, glad to see you back.  Sorry, to hear you need surgery but it sounds like things will be just fine.  I got pulled over for something or other awhile back and the officer let me go because Willow was a chow! He had some past connection with the breed.

Secondly......Aw the wonder of dogs. Isnt it amazing how all your hesitancy about this man goes out the window after you know he's a dog person......and of your favored breed? Only another dog person would understand but no wonder non-dog people think we are crazy, LOL.

I have dealt with cancer before and believe or not a gypsy woman told me I would never die from it so I guess I am cool with it.  The cyst will be removed by a laser and recovery time is simple so ... why sweat what I can't alter? It is an out patient surgery and depending on the full biopsy report I may even get to duck a repeat of chemo    . Either way  positive approach to dealing with it makes it easier on my family and dogs. And what is easy on them makes my life much less complicated.. It is amazing where we find dog people... the other day Morrison and I were hanging out at the Subaru dealership while some work got done and a ton of people were admiring him and starting converstations with me about him.  Our dogs and our love for them truly does break down barriers.

One of my good friend is a nurse inmy doctor's office.  She shows Newfies and does Newf rescue.  We NEVER would have met if I hadnt' started going to my current MD--whom I love. Gypsy has wonderful friends...at our BANK.  Vinnie loves her and Rhonda brings her treats each and every time she is working when we come in. I ask her if she wants to go to the bank and her ears boing up in a hurry! ROFLLL
