Big Smile [:D] He's a rescue dog (Bugsy)

Early this morning while still asleep I had a severe asthma attack.  I was dreaming that I was having one and in fact I collapsed to the ground and someone was going to give me CPR (in the dream).  Almost at this moment Bugsy jumped on the bed whining and nudging at me - obviously waking up both DH & I.

Bugsy is not allowed on the bed and NEVER goes on it.  As a guess it has been more than two years since he jumped on the bed and then it was because he was a crazy puppy playing chase

It has taken me nearly 2 hours to feel better, I honestly believe that had he not woken me up I'd be in an ER now.

I am amazed and so proud. I cannot express what I am feeling in words.

I am posting because I think he deserves extra belly rubs and kudos this morning

I am biased but he is one darn good dog.

Oh Bugsy!  You deserve lots of whatever your favourite thing is....maybe 2 hours free mole hunting in the garden?  What a wonderful boy you are.

Karen, you should be biased and you should be proud.  What a good boy he is, and he's a credit to you.  Keep feeling better. :)

Good job, Bugsy!! Maybe you can have him classified as a medical alert dog now, and take him with you all over the place? Stick out tongue (Just kiddin'!) Hope you're feeling better soon... that must have been an awful way to wake up, even with Bugsy's intervention.

I always knew that Bugs was a very sensitive dog.  This just proves it.  Bugs I'm soooooooo very proud of you.  Thank you for helping your mama out.  You knew she needed help & you were right there.  I'm gushing with pride to even know you.  I'd say he gets a good raw steak for dinner tonight.  Oh & lots of belly rubs & kisses from me.

Re: He's a rescue dog (Bugsy)

Thank you all for the well wishes - I am feeling a ton better although I have what I call an asthma hangover - just feel a little rough.  Don't know what caused the attack as I haven't been having any issues.  It was a severe attack though so I really do think if he hadn't caught it when he did I might be in the hospital now.

Bugsy can be such silly boy and yes I know he has a working side but overall he is a high energy love bug - I really wouldn't have expected this, but I am not wholly surprised.

DH & I were saying how he has NEVER been on the bed with a human (shock horror) so this was way outside his boundaries.  Supports my belief that this is a dog that doesn't need to be told what to do by some human - He has always believed that he knew what was best anyway LOL

Not sure I thought my feelings for him could be greater than they were before this but I shamelessly admit that I am looking at him today with extraordinary admiration and appreciation.

Kate we played some real fun "find it" in the house this morning and he is crashed out now - I wonder how long he was listening to me struggle

Cita I'm lovin' that medical alert dog thing Big Smile

Wow, that's so great!!!  Yay Bugsy!!!  So glad he woke you both in time and that you're feeling better.  I second the steak recommendation, with a mole topper!  LOL

I was busy all morning with the kids and didn't see this.  Wow, I am so glad you are okay!  There is a lot of truth to the above - I bet he was sitting there a long time with the wheels turning (or pacing and whining) - trying to figure out what to do.  Now he's pooped!

Seriously, you could get an alert dog vest for him and it sounds like it would be a really good idea.  Sometimes that is said lightly ("Oh goody!  You can take your dog with you everywhere!") but as someone with an epileptic adult brother I would love it if my parents would agree to get an epi-alert dog for him. A Bugsy would be terrific because he also has cerebral palsy and falls down a lot.

So I'm not saying it to be cute - I really do think it would be something smart.  And he's gotten so mature in the last few months.  Plus, his attitude is perfect for a service dog - he's not a run-up-and-say-hello dog - it would be easy to train him to stay on task.

There's no cert although it can make things easier to get the CGC and TDI cert (then you hang the medallions from his harness along with an "ID card").

Buddy, Heidi and I agree wholeheartedly, double mole topper!  Bugsy is your amazing dog.  And, he is with you for a reason.  Someone, something brought him to you; and now we know why.

We are all so proud of Bugsy and so glad you are feeling a bit better.  Hey, does Alka Seltzer help with that kind of hangover?

    Just kidding...  Rest today, please.
