Drinks [D] Mindless Chatter - Tues!

I vow to be positive the rest of this week. Things are shaping back up in my life! (Until I have to start paying bills haha)

I brought my new dog mobile home last night and took them for their maiden voyage to the dog park. It is definitely smaller than the Rendezvous but at least I won't have to worry about the car dying on me at 55 mph while out of town! I had to give up a bunch of bells and whistles on this new car like leather heated seats, extra outlets, stereo controls on the steering wheel etc. But I gained a lot too - nice stereo/sound system, keypad entry (Love love love this feature), all weather floor mats, better gas mileage and better reliability. So it's give and take. I could have spent $5k more and gotten all the options but that's a lot of dough.

My bestest bud spent the day at my house yesterday scrubbing it down. She even washed the walls! I love her. We went to the bar to celebrate last night too. I had my fav. drink: long beach. mmmmmm. and a great italian sub double mmmmmm.

Abbie is mine. Lord help me with 4 dogs but wth. I am glad I'm keeping her. She will be very easy to train. The rep wrote me back last night and said that it was very obvious that Abbie was a good fit with me and my crew from what she saw at the Aussie fun day. So there it is: Dog #4! I'm certifiably crazy.

Tonight is margaritaville at Las Tres Amigos (spelled wrong!) then I need to get my Rendezvous cleaned up and back on Craigstlist.

     Double congrats!

May your two new acquisitions both bring you much joy and reliability!  Wink

Well B may be able to bike past aggressive dogs but not a pretty 4 mo old female lab pup or a low flying screeching hawk.

Nah I noticed his behavior when the pup came out of the cul de sac, he really is attracted to pups (understatement of the year) I know that and when the pup lunged, I stopped and let them meet. I'm pretty sure that he considers all the dogs in our neighborhood as members of his pack (he's the only one that paroles it daily) so a new entry must be greeted by his version of the welcome wagon.

The hawk nearly did us in though.  It was sitting on top of a street sign squawking, it took off as we approached and bird boy went after it.  That one I wasn't prepared for and that is a total different energy.  Sure can feel his power when your attached to him Surprise

We've only had one wreck, our first time out his nemesis, Snowflake the neighbor's white cat, was at the end of our drive and he nearly killed me.  My left quad still has a dent in it, the bruise was there for ages but now that it has cleared the muscle clearly was damaged as it is sunken where the bruise was.  Hope that rebounds in time Big Smile

    LOL @ Bugsy biking adventures!

I need to do some serious cleaning today but BF is off. I think I'll wait until tomorrow. He just makes things dirty after I clean them!

I keep dropping Special K bits on the floor and Pirate is hovering around so he can clean up :) I love having a dog!

Kpwlee, it sounds like our biking adventures are kinda similar.  Co-Co's gotten really good about going past other dogs.  I just hurry her up and we go by.  I was really feeling good when we found some squirrels on the trail and I didn't eat gravel Indifferent although she was VERY interested.  She even went past 2 horses on Sunday w/o incident.  I was impressed b/c she's never seen horses before.  What I wasn't prepared for though.....wild turkeys.  I didn't see them until we were right next to them (only a few feet away), and appearantly Co-Co was the same.  But, oh boy when she did see them.  I was worried she would pull me off since we weren't going very fast so I stopped.  She lunged at them a couple of times but then we got going again.  Looking back I think it was kinda cool, b/c I've never seen wild turkeys that close before.

Now I don't feel so bad about getting a third!!  And I have a husband, not that he does hardly anything with the dogs....

This is too funny....a friend of mine got a Dell laptop a few months ago and it has been crashing ever since.  We've replaced the keyboard, motherboard, reinstalled the OS, the Dell support has even been to her house.  She finally decided to demand a refund and get something else and was going to send a few last e-mails before going computer shopping when it kept crashing on her.  She got so mad, she punched the laptop, then went to Best Buy and bought a Mac!  LOL.

Julie, congrats on keeping Abbie! I don't think you're crazy...i'm getting a puppy next summer, and then sometime later i'll adopt an older dog from the shelter, or get a rescue dog.

I went to the driving range yesterday and i'm literally so sore (my entire body) that i can't move.

    Re: Mindless Chatter - Tues!

Congratulations on the car and ABBIE!!!!! I love my keyless entry too. I will NEVER lock my keys in my car again! I do it all the time now on purpose (at agility events for example) close them in my console and that way I don't have to carry my keys. I personally do not like leather seats. Too hot in the summer, Arts Focus has cloth seats and seat warmers.

Send your friend to my house! I need a friend like that.

We are ordering a set of 12 channel weave poles I am so excited.

Belle past a dog on leash on my bike is a scary thing. We have not mastered that yet. Normally if she is on the leash we are in the neighborhood, and we don't encounter other dogs (unless they are in their yards). At the park GEESH BELLE!

We had a red-tail hawk family at the barn (before the turkey buzzards moved in). It was kind of cool having them around. Once and a while the male would swoop through the barn after barn sparrows. His wing span was half the aisle, it was spooky and cool at the same time. Watching them teach their young to hunt was fun, I remember seeing a bunny or two saved by a bad swoop by a youngster. The funny thing was how comfortable these birds were around the horses and humans. Though it did get nerve wracking when they would use my head for swooping practice. They never touched me but they would fly REALLY close. Then sit on the jumps in the ring when I rode. My only real complaint was how NOISY they were, squawking all the time. GIVE IT A REST!

We only ride in our neighborhood and with him attached - the dogs we see are out for a walk, most of the owners do their best and often cross over for us if they see us on a bike which is super nice!  I wrote about it yesterday but I have taught him to 'go fast' past the dogs and it works great.  No way on a pup though Big Smile

The place we saw the hawk is an area they are/have nesting/ed and during the winter months it was weird you would see them both on the ground.  And they seemed very comfortable around humans and even muttley.  I didn't think it would fly off - I know bird boy is going to go after a large low flying bird Indifferent Anyway no harm done!

BTW I love birds of prey and love that we have a bunch around here.

YOuch again this sting hurts - took a benedryl won't be awake much longer Sleep

I bike with Belle not Teddi. She is the young'un. I actually think she will be easier to train to bike than Belle. Belle has a torpedo instinct, Teddi IF I can get her focused about passing people should be fine. She cares less about dogs.

    Re: Mindless Chatter - Tues!

Well I just got done cooking biscuits, gravy, and sausage. Now to wash dishes. This is getting old. I did not sign up for this life. I was supposed to be a jockey by now. Oh well at least in 2 years I will be going to jockey school.

I gave Lillie a haircut yesterday. I got tired of picking out burs and damaging more hair than doing any good so I shaved her chest and trimmed her ears. She doesnt look like a show cut Irish Setter but it'll work for now while I work on her leave it command. She thinks she is a rabbit dog and has to chase every wild rabbit she sees on walks. So anyone want to help me dye all the wild rabbits out here white so she thinks their Tico and will leave them alone?

Yeah for getting Abbie!! Are you gonna change her name or keep it? I had a cat named Abby once and boy was she a monster. The only place you could pet her was on top of her head and under her chin. Anywhere else she was out to kill. Good luck with 4 dogs. I actually enjoyed it when I had 5 dogs. I always had someone wanting my attention and boy was I a busy person. And officially crowned the crazy animal woman because I actually spent time with all my animals. Not just tie them or cage them in the backyard.

    Re: Mindless Chatter - Tues!

One of my coworkers got hurt pretty badly a few weeks ago while biking with his dog. I think the dog (a young lab) saw a cat or something and bolted. My coworker crashed and flew up over the handlebars. He had to go to the ER and get some nasty abrasions cleaned up but it was the seriously bruised ribs and collarbone that kept him laid up for over a week - ouch!

Congrats Jewlieee on both the new car and the new addition to the family. I'm really excited for you.

I had the last 3 days off and was majorly productive in cleaning the house up. I felt like the energizer bunny and tackled those chores that I usually don't have the time or energy for. DH gets off this morning, so hopefully I'll still be able to appreciate my efforts when I get home tonight Hmm
