A week ago, I put Presley in the German clip. This clip is REALLY super popular in the competition ring, so that is what I will groom him in this fall, in Dallas. It's working really good because he regularly chews the coat on his ears, and he also has "stud tail." It looked bald when the hair parted, but now that patch of hair just looks "thinner" when it's scissored. An experienced grooming competition judge told me it's near impossible to grow that hair out again (the "stud tail" patch, not the tail hair in general), and it won't be counted against me. Phew!
So, while this clip looks really super nice on him, he just doesn't look like Presley! Everytime I look at him...it just weirds me out. I'm pretty sure it's the ears, but who knows. It bugs me!
Anyway, he needs more coat on his legs, and some more topknot would probably be ideal. I will also need to build-up the coat at the base of his tail, it's always been shaved clean in the past. When it's correct, it will look a lot like a Kerry tail. Sigh, the scissoring is kind of rough and uneven in some places. LOL, there are a TON of things that need to be fine-tuned, but hey, it's a start! My poor sister is not the best at stacking him..oh well.
