    Good Vibes Please...Monroe in surgery

    So....deep breath...

The boys were at daycare today and around 2 PM they called to tell us that Monroe is being taken to the vet by the day-care owner, Jill.  They noticed that Monroe was bleeding from his side.

Jill called me from the vet to let me know where the clinic is and give me an update, Monroe had a puncture wound below his rib cage.  I finally get to the vet and he tells me that Monroe needs a general anathesia since the wound is infected and, maybe, a day or two old.  Monroe is so stoic and such a good dog that he never let us know he was hurting until he lay on a white couch at day-care, that is how they saw the blood.

I feel guilty that I didn't know he was hurt but he probably did it while swimming at the dog park and he's had "sidewalk showers" and all since then.  I don't know how we didn't know.

He might be able to come home tonight, we'll know within 2.5 hours.  My big-guy could use your good vibes, I know how powerful they can be!

Oh, poor guy! Hope he feels better real soon!

And you can't blame yourself. I know I don't go over every inch of my dogs every day. So, yeah, deep breath...

    Vibes on their way!

Oh that is great news!!!  Good boy Monroe I know you are very strong.  Now listen you don't need to always pretend that you aren't hurt when you have an ouchee.  Its important that your humans know you don't feel right.

Don't beat yourself up Bugsy doesn't let on either

We're sending our strongest vibes that he can come home tonight!

Got to this a bit late but I'm so glad that Monroe is doing well!

Don't beat yourself up about the wound--labs have thick coats and aren't big complainers when it comes to pain.....

Well, Monroe is home and in his crate.

The ride wasn't very much fun for any of us, he was still waking up with his tongue sticking out and whining as much as a lab would.  We lifted him out of the car on the blanket and then carefully walked him up the stairs with a towel sling to support his haunches.  He knew where he was going and made a great effort to get to "bed".  He is asleep now.

Next up is a lot of healing and antibiotics.  His incision is about 3 inches long as they had to remove infected tissue and there is a LARGE shaved area.  None of it looks very comfortable.

My big-guy hates being sick and sore - please, keep the vibes coming.  Thanks everyone!

Hey Monroe I'm so glad you are home now (not as glad as you are no doubt).  I know it stinks being sick BUT work it for extra treats and extra attention Big Smile
