Re: GAS!!! How much does it cost where you live?

Gas went up ten cents yesterday.  TEN CENTS.  In one day!  I stopped for coffee in the morning when it was $3.59 and by the time I ran to the barn after work it was at $3.69.  I wish they would have said something that morning b/c I would have filled up....  Ten cents in one day....  That's ridiculous.

That is just nuts! We are hanging out around $3.65 if you know where to go. If you are desperate the higher prices are around $3.71. Ugg. You know it's bad when it costs $50 to fill a Honda!

I don't understand why the prices vary so much from city to city even with the same gas co.  Arco will be one price here and noticeably less in a  town about 8 miles to the north, but unless I have to go there for some other reason it doesn't make much sense to take a 16 mile round trip to save a few cents on gas.

weird thing happened to DH the other day.  He was filling up his gas guzzler.  He has to use premium on it.  He was pumping away & the pump stopped @ $50.  It said that he had reached his limit????  ~puzzled~

Some pumps have a limit. Or maybe it's visa or mastercard. I'm not too sure.

Our gas is 3.75 here. Geez, i'm not even in a big city. Diesel was 4.23 the other day.

I believe I paid $3.67 today, but I really am not even sure. It was $3.61 in the Boston area on Saturday, but most of the way through Connecticut, the gas was about $3.90.

Whoo-hoo, I feel we got a deal with $3.52 yesterday then!

Sigh... good thing we don't do a lot of driving, but it's certainly going to factor in to our summer trips to see family.  It's 450 miles round trip, so not horrible, but enough to make you stop and wonder if a weekend is worth $80 in gas and tolls on top of the other expenses...

Yep, we're driving to the FL keys (maybe 400 miles from here? I'm bad at distances.) and TOWING A BOAT. Which means whichever vehicle we use to tow will get about 9 mpg. Yeesh.

Re: GAS!!! How much does it cost where you live?

Up to $3.89 today.  But, it's Friday and it appears we are going back to the old "screw the tourists" attitude.  Pretty much year round, for the snow sports in the winter and the lakes in the warmer weather, Thursday afernoons gas goes up, Monday it goes back down.  Now, last year that did NOT happen, and in fact, the big holiday weekends when we really expected to get hosed, gas went DOWN.  Apparently we're back to the old standards again.  Hopefully I can get through the weekend without having to buy gas.

Normally, gas is a bit cheaper HERE, in a little wide spot in the road, than it is in the BIG city of Traverse...because its right on the bay and we aren't.  Now, however, it's cheaper there.

Much as I really, really want to hit the road for a new job and home, man, it's gonna cost a fortune driving this RV at 9 MPH.....

We have some serious gas guzzlers for the business, but, for scooting around town or closer trips we agree on taking the car I drive a lot.....a Ford Probe GT......very good on gas, and since DH recharged the ac.......we are in business.......it's the latest model that was ever produced and I am super sad that they quit making it in 1998......that car has been super good and reliable, not to mention it looks sharp.....(knock on wood.....lol)

It's currently $3.86 in Western New York....

If I knew gas prices were going to sky rocket years ago I would have bought a different vehicle. I drive a 1500 Dodge Ram pick up with a 23 gallon tank... gas guzzler galore!  It cost me almost $80 to fill up!!!! Indifferent Super Angry

Re: GAS!!! How much does it cost where you live?

I'm actually surprised WNY is so LOW -- here in Western PA we are usually 20-30 cents below that in Buffalo suburbs and we just went up to 3.75!  But, only last Thursday I paid $3.52

I'll be in WNY over memorial day.... sigh... we try to fill up in PA before crossing the line, or stop by the Indian reservation on the way up the 90 to save a few dollars.

Good thing my work ID also functions as a free  bus pass, that's all I have to say, otherwise my choices would be eating for the day or gas to drive to work to earn money to eat for the day.  It's really a catch-22

Gas jumped ANOTHER ten cents here yesterday.  Is this going to become a habit?  A ten cent jump every week?  Where is the limit??

    Oh, it's now $3.79 here.

Re: GAS!!! How much does it cost where you live?

My BIL just sent me an interesting e-mail about how people are getting ripped off at the pumps. I'm too computer witless to figure out how to post it here, but the gist of it is that some pumps are rigged to make people thing they're pumping more gas than they actually are. It said to just put in exactly 10 gallons, then check to make sure that the price posted is exactly 10 times the price per gallon.  If it's off ... the pump is rigged.
