This thread is a tribute to all the horses with heart. They give
their all because we humans ask it of them, and many of them die
because of it, as this filly did today at the Kentucky Derby. May she
have no pain and the greenest of meadows in which to gallop at the
Bridge I'd like to remember the following horses who had lots of
heart, whether they were ever on the track, and whether they died
tragically or not. Add names to the list as you see fit.
Thoroughbreds: Eight Belles, Barbaro, Ruffian, Restless Action (wish I could have afforded to buy you back then, sweetie), TV Girl, Glorious Combat, Steel Viking
Appaloosas: High Seas Sunrise, Harbormaster (these were my own - RIP my loves), Maude, Ditto Top Hat
Quarter Horse: Irish

"The fidelity of a dog is a precious gift demanding no less binding moral responsibilities than the friendship of a human being. The bond with a true dog is as lasting as the ties of this earth can ever be." ~ Konrad Lorenz
