Anyone interested in a regular chatroom?

Since AIM has a great chatroom feature...and since I know that we've tried chatrooms before, I figured, why not start up a regular chatroom that people can hop in and out of whenever they want to?   AIM seems to be the primary IM system of choice, so...hows 'bout it?

I'm going to go wait in 'iDoggerChat' and see if my idea flops or not... Confused Smile

    PS I'm CowgalFred on AIM

I love the chat room on the other forum I visit.

We have weekly "appointments" set up for general discussion and other topics so people log in when they want to.

BTW - I've never used AIM.  How does it work?

Re: Anyone interested in a regular chatroom?

I actually use Pidgin now so that I can keep all of my IM accounts open at once with only one managing window open.   I really like it.  You can even add Google chat to it now!  So, if you've got a gmail account it's handy, too.

As for AIM (AOL Instant Messenger), you can go here to get a screen name without downloading the software (then you can use Pidgin or another managing account) or you can go here to download the software and get a screen name at the same time.  If you don't want to have the hassle of having all of the software on your computer, you can go here and launch AIM Express every time you want to chat.  I personally don't like having all of the software on my computer--AOL can be invasive--so before I had Pidgin I used Express.

When you get your account set up and your buddy list up, you add your own name to the list (from the drop-down menu on the top) then either right-click on your name and invite yourself to a chatroom, or you add the whole chatroom to your buddy list.  I'm not sure if AIM lets you put whole chatrooms on your list, though, now that I think about it...

i have a netscape/AIM registered AOL screen name.... accidentally registered it when i was in high school years ago and am glad i did so lol if AOL goes away i still get to keep my account Stick out tongue at least thats the way it was back in 2001.....

i DID have AIM and yahoo but the only service i use now is MSN....  the other two just FUBAR my PC to the point of idiocy so i just avoid them. i would be tempted to try the light version of aim but i wont be downloading it onto my machine any time soon.

if not for that i would be all over that chat room.....

and i would have been tempted to try Pidgin if i hadnt had a run in with "Incredimail" Super Angry

Try Trillian.  It lets you run AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and IRC.

I think it would be fun! I try to aviod turning on AIM on my computer... it slows everything down for like an hour. Once it's up and running - it's fine though... it just takes a minute.... or 60.

anyways.... my SN is sweetskater31 - I'm not on too often, but it would be fun for when I am!

Ok....how do you go to a chatroom?  I have an AIM name, but I don't know what to do now.
